Hi

I need some advice for buying a amd 64 socket 939 cooler.
I have read some reviews and finally I’m between these two coolers:

Which one should I take ? I know that the zalman offers a good and quiet cooling for amd 64 (amd 64 runs much cooler than the new P4 Prescott 560 shit) and the ALCu version of the cooler is less hevier thant the coolermaster cooler, so should I go for Zalman?

I’m planning to buy a good amd64 and over clock it to 3500+ or more.

Or are there any other good cooling solutions available (except water cooling) ?

I went Zalman and I got 39 degrees idle and 52 degrees on full load. though that was with socket 754... Anyway Zalman all the way Smile

But what speed your cpu is running ? And what was the fann speed when u got the 52 temp? Was it on low speed or high (i heard that the zalman can take amd64 on full load even when fann speed low) Laughing

What version of zalman to u have (CU or the ALCu version) ?

It's running 2500 RPM all the time Smile

Hmm think I might check my zalman version...

My guess u have this version http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/view.asp?idx=141&code=005009 or alcu cause new 7700 have max 2000rpm

The Cu is made of Cu only but the AlCu is part AL and litle bit Cu in the centre. But the Cu cooler weight is 755g and AlCu weigth is only 438g. So less stress to your motherboard because I heard that the 755 is actually to heavy but it cools the CPU better than the AlCu version.

And I think that the AlCu cooler is cheaper to Very Happy

lol why Question ,i got cheap ass glaciatech cooler 7.50euro & it cooles my p4 3ghz 800fsb 512kb with no problem i got like 36-40 idle & 50 at full speed i think that more than enough & my system does not go more than 20dB cause i use fan controller so paying extra 1k for cooling that not needed i say hell no better buy somthin usefull Wink

Even the AMD 64 FX uses socket 939 and I cant even c any socket 940 CPU in the stores here where I live.

And there aren’t any PCI express motherboards with socket 940.

Sockel 940 is mainly used for dual opterons in servers.
And as I said in the other cooler thread, go for the Zalman CNPS7700-CU as it performs good and is low noisy.

I both the Freezer 64 because it was so light compared to the Zalman cooler. And it was much cheaper Laughing

The sad thing is that I cant test the cooler yet because my Asus A8N-SLI board has not arrived yet Crying or Very sad

I was afraid that the Zalman 7700 buts to much stress on my CPU and the motherboard. It felt dam heavy when i was looking at it and holding it.

With Thermaltake HS I get 27 C cpu IDLE and around 30-31 C full load.
