I am not saying this is the reason, but, my son never had a 'dirty disk error' on his console until I did the nxe update. Now he gets them on about 5% of his games, no big deal and it could be coincidental.

Now, similar shit happens with Fight Night Round 3. 2 copies and one retail - freeze on the same moment. No dirty disk error with any of the game, just freeze and only hard reset helps. Fuck it!

OK, so does anybody have an idea, why these games do not work on my console? Do you think changing the dvd drive will help? Some other games freeze too, just randomly.

Yeah, but I don't see why GPU overheating should lock up one game in one particular moment. Actually, I don't see any reasonable explanation for it Sad

Actually I keep hearing it from months. Some games don't lock up at all and I play them for hours...

Oh, I seem to find when it freezes the Fight Night Round 3 game. It happens when the fight is about to take place in State Arena Theater or something like that. It works fine on all other arenas except this one - it's fucked up either on career mode, free play, whatever. I tried 3 DVDs, two copies and one original. Installed the game from the original one, it didn't help.

I'm not convinced its anything to do with overheating. I get my freezing HAWX problem on the red resident evil edition console which is jasper chipset. AFAIK, rrod isn't occuring on that.

RROD can happen on any console, just less frequently on newer ones.

Yeah, true. It would just seem unlikely at present. If anything, I'd expect the E74 as its a 3 week old console with about 20 hours total gameplay on it.

Regardless, I'm pretty convinced its not a heat problem. It would occur on more than one game and definitely over longer periods of gameplay.

I guess the problem with FNR3 might be overheating. When I turn on the console and it it is still quite cool, the game works.

Guess what... I flashed to 1.51 and both Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Fight Night Round 3 work like a charm...

I know 1.6 came out, but AFAIK it's not that different from 1.51 that I would need to upgrade. Must have been the firmware, if the games work now.
