so there

i suppose most of you are from west, so it'squite a rare thing.
before i start i say in estonia some weeks ago about 6-8 cops were busted as they took bribes from speeders. basically the head was one of the senior cop who had contacts with "underground". so the bad guys who got stopped by a cop called that senior, then that senior called the cop who stopped him and said him to let him go. so that bad dude paid around 170 us bucks. depending whether he was speeding 40km/h over permitted speed limit or drunk.

so im quite a speeder myself. not a hooligan of course. but i usually drive 20-30km over allowed speed limit. cause my car good and mostly the roads i drive are pretty wide and good in quality. i got busted yesterday by a cop. i just got a fine last week and before that and before that. so this time i'd lost driver's license. i tried to start a nice conversation with him saying i had a bad day and shit like that. i went to sit in his car's backseat (as they all do). i chatted some bullshit, and finally i managed to offer him some bribe: ~200 bucks. he was hesitating but accepted it. and he scrapped the ticket. i asked what about the camera and speakers in the car. he said he can remove that part as he has control over the video material with the computer inside his cop car.

its weir though. i suppose theres many of them left in our country who take bribings.

but at least i still have my license Wink

btw, im talking about traffic police

its the shitty thing with free society

in our country a murderer gets 3-5 years with probation of 3 years or so..
there was a guy who was speeding a car while intoxicated and killed 3 people. he didnt go to jail, got a probation.

this shitty system gives people more courage as they think nothing huge happens anyway when they get busted

really depends tho... I doubt you drive 30km over the speed limit in town. On the highway I drive 20-30kmh over the speed limit too. As we just have 100kmh as highest speed limit. Think we had 110 for awhile to see if it improved the flow in the traffic or something... but gone now I think.

Anyway, thats why I love to drive fast in Sweden; 110-120 kmh speed limit on the highway and ridicules low fines for speeding. not that iv got any yet But you loose your license in Sweden driving 40kmh over the limit no matter what the speed limit is. Strange system, not at all how we have it here... but well, just keep under that and you're fine Very Happy

Killing a person with a car here can give up till 6 years in jail. Fair imo.

... yeah and here in germany when you drive less than 180km/h on the left lane, some snob with his bmw/audi/mercedes will be up your ass withing a sec Laughing

But the autobahn's are still great... Once I just drove on the left lane with two bmw and a mercedes infront of me (I was driving a shitty diesel Vectra, which belonged to my friend, whom I was bringing home from work because he lost his license for 1 month because of speeding) and we were all going around 180-190. Then suddenly I heard a strange humming noise and first thought that some bumble bee was inside the car...

Appearently it wasn't a bee, but a Lamborghini Murcielago Laughing That car was so fucking loud Laughing he finally was behind me and followed with the same speed.. Which was obviously waaaaay to slow for the fucking driver. He then shifted two gears down (you could litteraly hear the beast of a motor howl), changed to the rightmost lane and flew away...

ehm.. ok that was offtopic.

When I was a kid we usually took the car for holidays and before we set on route, the first thing my father did, was buying tons of marlboro and cheap cola to bribe the bulgarian and yugoslawian policemen Laughing

They pulled you out of the traffic, showing some sort of machine (which was obviously NOT meant to measure the speed of your car) and yelling around. We then gave them a package of marlboro and a coke, so that we could continue...

Id of wiped the floor with you if I was that traffic cop, 20 - 30 over the speed limit is rediculous, if you were here (which I know ur not) doing the avg 70 most do on the motorway you by your own admission would of been doing 90-100 which here is pretty much an instant ban on most occasions..

Nothing worse than an asshat that cant abide speed sense and end up killing people due to it, riles me no end... total inconsideration for other people/families/ life itself, all for a thrill because you think and I quote, "cause my car good" good/busted/ fully road worthy or not hit by a vehicle doing speeds in excess of 15mph and your in big doo doo..

And the audacity to think your in a position to buy your way out of such implications prooves your nothing but a chancer and a total waste of space. Id love to know how old you are cnZ im betting in your teens still, if not shame on you even more.

peace out.

Policemen are just regular men with a badge and a gun. And entirely corruptible, and particularly corruptible since they think they now are better than everyone else, and can do what they want.

I'd never bribe a cop though if I were you, because he could take the money and then take your license. And if you would say "I gave him X amount of money and..." you would never win, ever. Because if the system is ready to impose the same justice on the police they impose on regular citizens, they would have no enforcers of law. And no one would want to be a police officer.

I also think fisk should be unbanned.

In eastern europe you usually can ask to discuss a ticket if you get one, and then go away for about half price. And of course try not to drive with foreign license plates, if you're in the wrong area you'll get stopped every 5 km for some bullshit offense.

I wasn't bragging, just stating a fact ... 140 is pretty normal "high" speed on the main highway here (12-16 lanes). It's the people who are driving 90 that worry me more, they're usually complete morons and a danger to everyone on the road.

actually I do usually try to keep it under 130 since that is a new fine/demerit points threshold. 50 km/h over = 1 week suspension, car taken away right on the side of the road, and $10,000 fine.

Ok look,

1: Speeding on roads that are wide and good condition is no excuse to speed, whats wrong you always late somewhere? If so leave earlier.

2: Tolerable amount of traffic, there could be zero traffic the risks are not just to others but to your own safety.

3: I wouldnt drive like that on critical roads. Im curious what you perceive is a critical road? are not all roads important as others travel on them regardless of qty.

ill sum up with that if you drive on say country roads and im sure many have where you got blind bends and sometimes you meet a tractor etc sometimes you dont, but your always thinking shit hope no farmer is coming around there its narrow etc, it applies to anywhere that thinking.
Blow outs, rare animal incidents, one little bit of lack of concentration could cause you to be or others more seriously injured all because of your 20-30 extention on your speedo... I sudgest that you take up space flight and moon exploration with nasa because to be quite frank its where they really have the need for lead boots.

In Poland there is no FUCKING WAY to drive within the limit cause often the limits are set in places where its fucking retarded to drive 50 km/h. You know - a long, straight road and a 40 km/h limit for example. I dont like breaking the law but sometimes those dumb limits make me furious.
But speeding in crowded places or speeding 100 km/h over the limit is too fucking much.

Oh and i think laws like fastening (i think its the good word?) the seatbelts or having the headlights on ALL YEAR (yes, in Poland you have to) are fucking idiotic.

I hope you crash - in case you do, I'd like to hear your views on wearing the seatbelt.

I thought having the headlights on all the time was pretty much a law in every decent country. I see no problem with it.

Edit: You don't even need to drive fast without the seatbelt to get major injuries or even die. So tell me, why is this law so bad? Does it really take THAT long to put the belt on? Are you really that lazy? Would you let your kids sit in the back without seatbelts?

When on tour about a decade ago, we also got stopped in Estonia, on a dirtroad leading out from Tallinn to some concrete complex.

Obviously they saw the foreign plates and wanted their bribe.

Nice to see some things never change.

1. Its MY decision whether i wear seatbelt or not. Same for a motorbike - if you ride a motorbike above 50 kmh a helmet wont do SHIT if you bang your head into a tree. Of course - there's also wind but that's the only reason to wear a helmet. Still - it should be MY decision. I hate the law for that.
Maybe the headlights are not such a bad idea (besides the fact you have to remember to turn them on and off plus the fucking beeping when you open the door for a second) after all...

2. If i crash in a car with high speed i prefer to fly trough the front windshield instead of burning alive inside the car.

3. If the law would require you to count every breath you take and write it down, would you? FUCK dumb laws, rise against dammit. Instead of making such dumb requests, people should THINK. I dont want the government to make the thinking instead of me.

Never thought of the fact that if you fly threw the window you might kill somebody? Or traumatize the people who see the corpse? It's not that often cars start to burn tbh - its more common that people die due to not wearing the seatbelt than cos of fire.

There are stupid laws - but far from all are bad ones. You cant imagine how many people die in traffic every year just cos they (just like you) ignore the laws and belive they know better.

Edit: You point out that people should THINK..no offence, but you should start doing it yerself rather than pointing fingers at others Wink

Edit2: I also noticed that You ignored my question about having your kids in the car without wearing seatbelts. No matter if you got kids or not, surely you could answer this one? Why should they have to be forced to wear seatbelts when you belive its everyones choice? Wink

You know - if you die, there are people who need to clean up the mess or put lots of energy into trying to save you. You think its okey to give these hard working people more work just cos you personally dont belive in traffic rules?

Imo you gotta understand that everything doesnt have to be about YOU all the time. You need to respect other lifes too.

Edit: Oh, and not everything the goverment does or say have to be a conspiracy Wink
