this is a little more complicated than risk.
you dont just manage attacks, you manage research and developement as well as politics and production all based on real life data from world war 2. it's extremely detailed. perfect game for people who like to manage a whole lot of stuff, like me

It's a cool game imo. The first one had the most unfriendly GUI ever in PC games.
I hope they fixed this.

I invite you to try it, and then to write that kind of sentences Smile
It's a really deep and hard game, a challenging wargame !

Now there is a nice "flash site like" HUD, it's quite nice

Perhaps Pardox started using copy protection for the first time Confused . That would be pretty bad since all their games are unplayeble without a proper patch. Don't think a small release like this will be cracked after every patch.

Well I can live with clone release... Even Starforce 3 clone, although it's still quite unconfortable.

Even more simplified? hoi 1 is the most complex game i've ever seen (correct me if i'm wrong). I think the changes speed the game up a little so it doesn't take 80 hours to finish one game.

What exactly you foudn simplified if you didnt play it yet? The demo only had a scenario... not the full campaign.

Also there apparently is a supply shortage of the game which is why most retailers dont even have it today. Damn Atari borked up the release....

Nobody I know understands the tradesystem, all units are generic, diplomacy is embarrasing and movement is attack. It´s kind of Axis & Allies advanced. Hopefully HoI 2 is better (it seems to be) allthough I´m still hoping for a new version of WiR or that CWiF will finally arrive. HoI is entertainin with CORE in MP.

copy protections still keep the average non-warezer from just burning the game 20 times for all his friends, so they do have some use Smile

I think that games like this are just for hard core gamers (kind of guys that that buy the game they love), and that the policy of Paradox is not to become the richest guys on earth. They are not the kind of big company that fuck the customers in the ass, but they are always present and discussing with the fans on their forums and on IRC, and that's the best thing that can happen in the developement of a game.

I'm always warezing games, but I will buy this one, first of all to support Paradox, then because it's the best WWII wargame ever Razz
