Just read a preview from PC Games (German PC Mag)

http://www.pcgames.de/aid,685486/ArmA-2-Ein-wahres-Bug-Desaster-PC-Games-testet-die-Militaer-Simulation/PC/News/

Cons:
- Arma 2 is full of bugs
(examples: Various graphic errors, problems with pathfinding, jeeps need gasoline -> tanks not, script errors (Quests cannot be completed),missing files when playing scenarios, if a motorcycle falls down to the ground it is not useable anymore,
- Enemies are able to shoot you, even if you can´t see them.(same thing like Arma1)
...and so on

Pros:
-Nice weapon design
-Nice landscape

PCGames magazine just got a beta patch from bohemia which isn´t tested yet.

Testrig:
Core2Duo 3,16
3GB Ram
8800GTS Laughing

Reviewer was able to play on high settings, sometimes with a jerky gameplay.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope the german version, which is available on friday isn´t fucked up.

you seem to forgot the motto of most software houses these days.... release first, patch later... have you even played arma? i have , and its certainly playable and enjoyable.i bet ofp2 will have just as many patches out as arma2, tbh i will be getting both, but i think if i had to chose only one to get , it would be arma2

Arma2 looks more promising the OFP2 i have to say, but yes it will be buggy at first. In most cases i wait for games to get patched once or twice before i play, not a real problem..

This game is appeling to hardcore fans of this genre. I think most people would be disseminated at the start. As i have knew from the start a game so big like this one is impossible to be bug free. I am sure that they will correct the problems just like any other game.
It has become a trend to pay for a game and fell like a beta tester.

The German version was printed and shipped before it went gold. They are releasing a patch for the german version bringing it up to gold version on friday or monday. Thats what they said in the official forums... and later when all versions has been released they will be united with a international patch.

Tried to find the post regarding the above users mention of a patch and such, seems it was indeed released a bit early in Germany (Official date is 29th this month.) but I found this instead, various game details and discussions plus a few bugs, hehe.

i just tried playing the first arma with the latest patch (1.14). it played like an unfinished game. the ai seemed wonky. i encountered several graphical glitches and oddities like the driver of the humvee never moving his hands yet the steering wheel moves. also, no one moved their lips when they talked. anyway, playing this game was a strange experience.

i played operation flashpoint many years ago and loved it. maybe i'll see if i can re-install operation flashpoint and see if it'll run on my vista x64 sp2 machine. Razz

Update:

oops. i meant project igi. i did go back and play operation flashpoint. it also has the weird driver's hand doesn't move but steering wheel does syndrome. i preferred project igi over operation flashpoint for the fun factor. they both graphically don't hold up too well in this day and age.

Update 2:

huh. decided to play igi 2 as well. patched it to 1.2 and surprise it took 2560x1600 res!

Weird they move theyre mouths for me when speaking. no glitches, and the latest is not 1.14 either.. you cant play arma with no beta patch or mods period. It does not work as a great game box standard just like like ofp.. Single player shite, multiplayer/mods awesome.

Mentioned on the forum link I posted but yes the German version only has the German voice/text files, unsure about censoring but the game isn't really that violent aside from the wound decals on bodies.
(Some blood particles and marks as well but the main effect is the wounds on the character models unless it's been tweaked since ArmA 1 or even OFP.)

Thanks for answering, so we can't expect an english release soon. I guess we'll just have to wait then Cool

If that version number is correct, then its an old version of SecuROM. I would guess it wouldn't be too hard to crack and wouldn't have any activation..?

Lol, that's probably some minimal protection Securon version for the demo, Securom version numbers can't really be trusted.

1) Will it require online activation ?
2) Will they implement custom protection ?
