There's certainly a lot of content, at least - and with that much playground, devoted online off-roaders may be confident to write their own routes out of the mire. But all the same it seems unlikely. Of FUEL's many promises, too many are either broken or undermined by its handling, layouts, logic or interface shortcuts. There's no denying Asobo's achievement in building such a daring, beautiful landscape on such a vast scale, but the core of any good racing game is falling in love with its vehicles, the things you can do with them, and the places you can take them, and by that measure FUEL is distinctly average. |

Damn, was hoping it's at least a 7/10 or 8/10 game. Oh well life goes on.

Fuck reviews, I want to play it for myself. But Eurogamer review confirmed my worst fears about this game: shitty handling, shitty gameplay, no charm.
What happened to TDU2? Is it still in development?

I already have a general idea of how the vehicles handle from the videos alone. I don't see how anyone wasn't expecting a really loose and underwhelming driving model since it's an arcadish game.
Either way it'll be fun to give a try.

Wow watching those videos reminds me of sitting in a elevator. Probably has something to do with the lame music. Doesn't look very entertaining but they sure did portray it as exciting with those trailers.

Seems I am the only one being positive here.
I liked what I saw in those videos.
Good sence of speed.
Handling seems good enough for an arcade game like this. Sliding into 180 turns and stuff seems to be vital in this game.
No rubberband ai. Somehow they don´t magicaly pass you after driving flawlessly.
Not only one road. Shortcuts seems to be used frequently.
Setting is cool.
The one thing I object against are the darkened corners. Hate it.
All in all I´m sure I´ll enjoy it. Take it for what it is. An arcade racer.

Nope, you're not the only one matey. I *still* think the game looks epic fun - I couldn't care less about "not being able to break fences" or any of the other physics complaints. I loves me some arcade-style racing games! Sick to the back fucking teeth of "realistic" driving sims. They're annoying and, unfortunately, breeding like proverbial rabbits.
Roll on FUEL, baby!

Looks boring. I mean, the handling is 100% arcade, there's no need for handbrake or any skill, there's no nitro to spice thigns up (Burnout shits all over this)
Physics are absolutely bland and the height variations/offroad is meaningless, no points/stunts/whatever (Pure shits all over this)
Music/sounds are generic, I'm guessing there's no worthy single-player (?) (GRiD shits all over this)
I thought Codemasters could do better than this Generic Arcade Racing.
P.S.: I'm only comparing to other fun arcade racers, no sim games.
@Nailbiter
How is sliding important, you can drive through whatever with no real speed penalty. Constant cutting roads ftl

Handling looks pathetic, sounds are pathetic, physics nowhere to be seen, but man that world looks great.

Like on the bridge in the second movie where you had to take a 180 turn. Or in first video where the driver went of from a height down 15m to face the other way. What I tried to say is that the handling is good enough to pull of the moves you need to do in the game.
Obviously there has to be tough ai drivers and hard times to beat for this to even matter. Hopefully there are different difficulty levels.

The only thing I'm not looking forward to about this game, what with being an achievement whore and all, are the achievements themselves. For game that has over 5000 square miles of accessible terrain -- I am NOT looking forward to the "collect xxx of xxxx" achievements - of which make up a good 80% of them all anyway.
Fun.
