@discworld - right about destroying tanks. You can't do it with one grenade, it is the AI that can. Refuelling issue is resolved by a mod (you can travel loger) but repairing sucks. You CAN'T repair a tank track singlehandedly.

Silent Storm, by far. If only they didn't put those shitty mechs in the game, heh.
edit: also, Red Alert is not a WW2 game by any means.

I think the RTS-label is misused here, what Soldiers: Heroes of World War 2 is is really a real time tactical game (RTT), STRATEGY per definition is more oversight-planning and long-time planning and managing (sort of like civilization). But as a real time tactical game (as I suppose the topic was intended for) I'd also say Soldiers, there is however NO strategical game that can compete with Hearts of Iron 2, hands down that is the best strategy game ever, so far.

Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

Absolutely, yes. The AI is superior.
As for thread-name, it's about strategic games, S:HoWW2 isn't one I'd say.

half of u dont even know what a RTS is....
RTS = REAL TIME .. eg... Age Of Empires.. Warcraft etc.
Silent Storm = TBS = Turn Based
I suppose Hearts of iron COULD be called a RTS ... but i think most people would call it a pure strat game

actually thinking about it, soldiers is my favorite in terms of the fun factor. however the game that got me most involved from a strategic standpoint, i would have to say would be Combat Mission 2: from berlin to barbarossa. im surprised that no one else mentioned this one so i had to myself. it blew me away playing a turn based stategic command type game and actually being able to enjoy every decision in gory detail in the one minute combat phase of the game. so far havent encountered anything comparative to it that ive been able to enjoy.
also silent storm was an awesome game as well but personally i dont really think of it as a ww2 game, more like an alternative universe ww2 game.
