You can use the packager extractor to open sims3package file and it gives you a bunch of .package files, which I assume you can just put into the Sims 3 directories. Will test shortly.

Doesn't work. Extracting the sims3package file gives a LOT of individual packages, which are supposed to be put into Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads. I did that and RV doesn't appear under the town list in "New Game"
No errors, it just doesn't appear.

wonder if there is a package content/switch somewhere that needs to be put on. you know like enabling the fact your using addons. usually in a config file or set in registry.

Well these info was given from another forum.
extract it to: The Sims 3\GameData\Shared\NonPackaged\Worlds\
then find he 75 mb file. delete all the other small files. change the 75mb one to "Riverview.world".
Then this is the error you will receive..well I did anyways.

Though according to TPYN's method
"Sims 3 add-ons are *.sims3pack (or smth like that) files. When you double-click it, the game launcher pop-ups. You just choose the file in downloads section and press install. A few seconds and the add-on is ready to be used. "

Couldn't get it to work either way.
Also tried using the installer for it, and it claimed that i needed a software update, so it appears there's a newer patch?

Apparently there is DRM in the Sims3package files in some way. Riverview won't install properly unless you have a regged, legit game, nothing wrong with the Razor version itself. There has been some headway with copying Riverview files from a legit installation to a razor install, but there are still stuff like buildings and descriptions missing. Unless someone wants to experiment to make it work I wouldn't bother at the moment.

Problem is that the small .package files need to be renamed to their proper name as well, and until somebody figures out their names we're straight out of luck.

As I said, it doesn't really matter. Even if you copy the exact files from a legit existing Riverview installation it won't work properly, buildings and stuff will be missing, and other things are reportedly wonky too. Someone will probably figure out how to make it work, but a straight file copy/unpacking isn't it.

It may work as the packages *may* when extracted be the missing files from the standard installation, ie the missing buildings etc - just a thought.

this sucks. this second town could be almost pleasant to have. considering that only a town is available at this time it should be almost a good part of the game. if is not possiible to have access to sims 3 store to download free stuffs when it drop down of price i will go to buy it

Well, we'd need the real file names of all the .package files and we'd need to know in which directory they're supposed to go.
EA are laughing at us right now.

It's possible. I tried removing the crack before I tried installing the pack too, but still the same result.
Is updating the launcher as simple as getting the Sims3Launcher.exe file, and possibly the Sims3Launcher.exe.config file, from someone who has the original and patched game? Anyone feel like sharing?

i get garbage package files after unpacking those files.
i think we need correct names for them. or maybe a better unpacker.

Quote: | Maybe it's because the 632 patch doesn't update the launcher. So the game is 632, but the shitty launcher is 631. Sad
|
i have some doubts that was a proper patch anyway.the reason that i can not find it anywhere into the usual places. i do not know exactly but maybe EA could have just fucked all us. go here. there are not update yet available into the site

It got removed the next day or so, so it was fine, also it added some stuff (for example, one of the main packages got 3-4 MBs bigger)
I guesstimate they made the DLC/packages incompatible with the retail-version of the launcher. On purpose. We have to wait, is the game officially released ?
