Since these are just patches, they shouldn't break the forum rules by posting them .. so, umm, links please? I only have the older Patch #1.

I got it from rin.ru.
http://rs24cg.rapidshare.com/files/202389704/2745251/Saints_Row_2_FULL_Update2.rar
Verified the game cache and it says 100% (took a while, jeez).
Is it safe to have .ncf and game files in the steam folder and run steam with my legit account as long as I don't touch the files/run the game?
On another note this game is crazy fast paced, the driving seems almost unnatural, it's so freaking fast. :/

No, handling on PC version is fucked up, but you can change settings to be more like on the console version.

Ok, CF toolbox shows 100%, I was thinking this was old an old update, although only 1 update is in the news.
Glottis, what settings? I didn't really look trough any settings except display ones (couldn't change the resolution to 1680x1050 or any other, seems this game was really broken before the patch).
Dummy instructions to installing the patch/verifying percent, shamelessly copied from rin.ru with a few easier points:
1. Install Steam and make a fake account
2. Install/Copy the "Saints Row" folder to */program files/steamapps/common folder
3. Download http://rs24cg.rapidshare.com/files/202389704/2745251/Saints_Row_2_FULL_Update2.rar and extract it to the "Saints Row" folder (overwrite the files)
4. Place the ncf files in */program files/steamapps
5. Download misteam (find it on cs.rin.ru) and add Saints Row 2 to the game list
6. Run steam and play.

Anyone still playing this? Got crazy flickering with 4870X2 and Cat 9.5; just wondering if I should downgrade the drivers since I don't remember getting this earlier (months ago) when I briefly tried the game.

It's strange, the last time I played it with my 4870+cat9.5(winXP32) I had the same old stuttering issues etc. but not flickering..
Anyway I uninstalled the game so I can't test it anymore.

IIRC, you need to change dynamic lighting to simple.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Code: | Saints.Row.2.Update.2-SKIDROW |
Quote: | Update #2
=========
* Added 16:9 resolution support
* Changes to graphical settings: Users are able to customize
specific graphical settings after choosing either High,
Medium or Low
* NPC Tornado Helicopters will now attack the player during
missions and/or notoriety situations
* Various other fixes
Update #1
=========
* General performance increase around 20%. Note that this will
vary depending on the both computer specifications and game
settings
* 3rd Party controller scrolling issue has been fixed
* Corrected various crashes reported across all versions
* Corrected a crash in "Drive-By" Diversion for Danish version
* Corrected a crash in "Streaking" Diversion for Spanish
version
* Removed original frame cap of 32 FPS
* New variable frame cap has been implemented. This will
smooth out spikes in overall framerate
* Players may notice a small hitch when crossing into new
chunks in the world. The amount of time for this has been
reduced for recommended spec machines, but may still be
noticeable, particularly while driving at high speeds
|
This should be the cumulative update.

I have installed the game (Razor rls) and the "Update 2" (SkidRow rls). The game loads up OK, but when I try to start a new game it crashes to desktop.
Have updated my directX (aug9 redist) and Nvidia drivers. Running on XP.
Anyone have any tips?

Any specific error message?
Razors release with Skidrows update should work just fine (Can't see any other releases.), perhaps rename the game EXE if it's driver related or turn of AA incase there's some compatibility issue, it's a bit strange how it lets you get to the main menu but crashes at the start of a new game though.
(Should crash directly unless there's some script issue or error but that shouldn't be if you did a clean install of the game without using mods and such.)

Thanks for your suggestions.
No specific error message. Just the "Send Error Report" / "Don't Send" windows generic error dialog box. The error report just lists a bunch of modules and a dump of data. Guess its the windows equivalent of a core dump.
When you start/continue the game you get that "window flash" (like it creates a new window and then pops it to fullscreen - several games have had it). But it never makes the "pop" to fullscreen - instead the sound stutters and it crashes. Tried changing options to window mode, but didn't help. Just black window then the same stutter and crash.
Tried playing with the graphics option, and disabling the hardware acceleration on the sound. None of it helped.
With the original RazoR exe it does work (as long as I disconnect the USB game controller).Thanks for the tip. But framerate is pretty bad, so was hoping the patch improved some things.

Well it does, maybe the old EXE disables the improvement.

Actually, it turns out its the controllers. I unplugged them in the old version, to stop the "moving" menu. But the updated exe (Skidrow) works if the controllers are not plugged in. Going to make driving intersting, but there you go. Thanks for the help.

Does the game work with Windows 7 64bit? It seems to start (shows a black screen) then it crashes immediately.
Under Windows XP 32bit everything is fine. Razor release + Skidrow Update 2.

Already got it for 360 but I expected the PC version to be better (at least the graphics) but it doesn't seem so. :-/

I just downloaded the game and I'll give it a try with just the official patch and then the unofficial and see if there's any difference.
