Yeah, but still you´re comparing a 5 year-old mod to a game that was release 2 months ago.

Waste of money, it's like your playing beta, plus laggy and unstable multiplayer.

(Probably still a old version of the game though, retail 1.00 so to speak perhaps with none of the balance changes, tweaks and fixes applied to it.) |
I know this thread is getting a bit dated, but curious if anyone has had luck bypassing the activation check on the Demigod updates. I know that others have worked around this in the past with GalCiv2 (latest version) and Sins of a Solar Empire (post v1.15), but haven't seen anything on this one. I played around a bit without any luck, guess it uses a bit better system with the new ImpulseReactor this time. I have the legit game, but it pisses me off not being able to make an offline backup that isn't machine / OS specific before requiring another activation.
That is the great thing about "true DRM free games" from GamersGate (haven't tried GOG yet to see if they are truly DRM free), especially now they list if the publisher forced them to include Starforce / SecuROM so I can avoid those (usually 1C releases), is I can make a offline backup in case their activation servers go down years from now. Stardock can't even follow thier own Gamer's Bill of Rights, when I can't even get LAN play or essential game fixing patches without DRM inclusion on the updates. Oh well last Stardock game I buy, as I don't like the way the wind is blowing with their new ImpulseReactor and GOO protection schemes. Hell if I wanted to buy an online game with DRM, I can already get a better selection from Steam and at least there are scene workarounds to facilitate offline backups. :sigh:

useless everything because singleplayer practically does not exist, LAN checks and to play online it require a valid serial to apply patches from impulse as well and of course PROPHET does not have released any patch

Not sure what you're going on about. My buddy and I play LAN all the time with one of the earlier releases.

Patch 1.2 is out
Demigod v1.2 is here and users can now unlock the highly anticipated new Demon Assassin.
The Demon Assassin is a Melee Assassin fighting for the Forces of Darkness. He wields a sword and knife in battle, and is highly mobile, quickly closing the gaps between himself and his opponent through the use of warp attacks.
Not only does v1.2 unlock the new assassin, but the new update will also add:
* New AI options
* A Mod Manager
* And new game-play balancing and tweaks
Seasonic 1000w Planitum - TT Level 10 GT - ASUS M5E - i7 2600k @ 5.0ghz - 16GB Patriot Viper 3 - Dell u3011 - EVGA GTX 980 @ SLI - SSD Samsung EVO 250GB - 16TB W.D. - G19/G13 @ Roccat Kone XTD - Razer Vespula - Xonar Phoebus @ Vulcan ANC/Corsair 2100 Vengeance - Logitech G51

I love that this game has no protection, and yet there's no new patch releases outside the damn Stardock app. if they think i'll buy this game because it's Impulse exclusive then they can expect piracy. I won't buy games on the internet unless they're for STEAM.
I have been playing the first release of DEMiGOD-RADiANCE last week, and seriously this is a DoTA wannabee with good graphics but it had a lot of problems, like on big battles i don't actually understand shit of who is who. The camera is weird and the heroes are not balanced, and the AI is dumb. And no, i'm not gonna buy it even if it's 5$. I don't like Impulse and i really doubt i ever will.

Lol.. suck up to those who rip you off every chance they can. Praise STEAM for it is truly a miracle of our time. It is a miracle after all, that people did not boycott them entirerily for any one of their major offenses against us, the paying customers.
Lets see about steam:
- their prices are ridiculous, they never heard about exchange rates: 1USD = 1EUR? huhh?
- their service sucks. its either slow, not working or a combination of the two.
- their client is invasive and literally forces itself onto you.
- their anti piracy policy is totalitarian. If they 'think' you are a pirate endorse piracy or are affiliated with pirated stuff or hacks in any way, your account is gone. No room for appeal other than begging them to reconsider.
Let's just say, that i avoid steam whenever i can. I would sooner buy from impulse, gamersgate, matrixgames or any other online distributor, than to resort to using steam.

Lets see about steam:
- their prices are awesome, 1USD = 1EUR is wrong but is better for those who use €URO since the dollar is higher which makes a better price for EU customers, and unlike Stardock, they don't copy anything, starting from a Digital Gaming distribution with custom app, weekend deals and exclusive games.
- if STEAM service sucks. go to the Stardock forum and have a nice laugh at those posts with Zero replies, and to send a ticket so you can have tech support.
- their client is invasive and literally forces itself onto you. Plus, Stardock adds to this the ability of having games that are on STEAM for ages, and unlike Demigod there's no games that are really exclusive, even those from Stardock sucks compared to titles like L4D, TF and HL2.
- About piracy they are doing what the rules said, if you're too dumb to read them it's your problem, besides you're double dumb because you don't know the meaning of test accounts.
Let's just say, that dumb people should stfu because they always say crap. |
Fixed.
PS: Stardock needs to get in the butt a lot, so they can think twice before they even think to compare with STEAM.

How's Euro more expensive than dollar? Dollar It's almost 50% more than Euro's value. Seriously.
But tbh we both fail, because they adjust the prices to € since the site auto-detects the region. Either way i can buy L4D2 for 38€ while the retail price is 50€. And i don't want a fuckin box and/or DVD because it only occupies space and gets dusty. |
Your analysis and comparison is flawed. Let's try again, shall we? On Steam here are the prices;
MW2. €59.99
MW2. $59.99
http://store.steampowered.com/app/10180/ (You can change the currency displayed via this link; http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=US )
Now let's do the exchange rates.
http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi?Amount=59.99&From=USD&To=EUR&x=60&y=4
€59.99 is $89.57
$59.99 is €40.16
Yeah... so to buy it from there with Euro prices, you pay an extra €19.83. I'm sorry, and you think that's CHEAPER? No sir, we don't both fail, you do - but it's ok, I forgive you <3 Our/My point is; if Valve actually worked by exchange rates - then it would be awesome, but they don't. They do a direct swap by saying "£/$=€" and that's SERIOUSLY FUCKED UP.

yeah, fuck them.
I just went to check on how much Armada 2526 costs (another game, distributed digitally NOT on steam) and it's 39.99$, or 27.99€ or 24.99GBP. now THAT is fair. I wish steam went the same way already... then I wouldn't have to keep buying russian and thai keys from shady websites.

Apparently yes... but if they find out you've done it, they'll ban your account (someone on their forum was complaining that he got banned for using a proxy to buy in USD instead of EUR)
