i've got a phillips drive, mitsumi 4X DVD-R's, burnt with a LG-4160. some of the iso's work fine (x-men, nfsu2) but some of them freeze when loading or playing a cutscene and it says maybe the disk is damaged or dirty. so whats the problem? the dvd media, the iso (maybe corrupt?) or maybe it didnt burn properly? all the non working ones i've tried 2 or 3 times and i get the same thing (halo 2, def jam ny, goldeneye rogue agent) anyone have any suggestions?

i'd suggest its the media
i tried a few different ones when i first bought my writer.. some sort of worked (froze as yours do) some didnt work at all..

i now use ritek 4x and everyone i burn works .. so its trial and error.. try some different media

the orange topped ritek are the ones i use..buy a few and see how you get on

No problems with Ritek here either, and have tried them on all three major xbox dvd drives in 25+ different xbox's. If you're burning with Nero, you may want to do the data check when cd is done. You may have to extract and burn in UDF to do that though.

Verbatim is excellent! They just tend to cost much more.
