Play a bit more and you wont be running around anymore.
This is also what I find weird about people complaining about the stupid pedestrians... I just leap from building to building, powerjump up from a rooftop, dash during the jump to increase hight, glide a couple of blocks, airdash again, glide again... why should I be bothered by the ants on the streets!? MWAHAHAHA

This definitely seems to be a hit or miss kind of game. I played until day 6 so far and I have read much about the graphics and the controls being mediocre at best, as well as the story being generic and dumbed-down. Someone mentioned "production values", which to me always translates to "I want to see that much money is behind this game". I might be wrong about that, not being a native speaker and all, maybe a definition of production values (or some googling on my part) is in order.
I can't help feeling different from some people on this forum though, as if there was this new breed of gamers who get so many games for free (I did it like that most of the time myself, mind you!) and yes, they sometimes sounds a little spoiled.
With games having achieved the cultural status and the industry having the economic weight it didn't have 25 years ago, the difference between what you pay for a Verbatim/5.25'' floppy disc and what THEY paid for making the game has never been bigger. Just compare one russian scientist coding Tetris in his free time to Rockstar Games paying 100.000$ for the copy protection of GTAIV alone... still people bitch and moan - sometimes about the wrong things... I wasn't gonna ramble, yet I did! Sorry.
[Interlude: *Random implications that I love nothing more than playing Archon on a C64 emulator and hack ATMs with my dial plate phone*]
ANYWAY, my highly opinionated points regarding the game were gonna be these:
- The voiceover work is fantastic, escpecially for a game of supposedly "limited" budget. Especially the secondary characters, e.g. the two guys in the autopsy room or the military radio chatter and the ground troops yelling "Kill the motherfrecker!" etc. - exceptionally well done in my opinion.
- The main story script... well I haven't digested most of it, but it does seem a little lacking in the mission incentive department, I admit. The main character - the guy that saved our world in the Battlefield Earth movie! - can come across a little cheesy, but that was the case with Bionic Commando, too. In fact, it's even worse there because they try to justify the bad dialogue with try-hard tongue-in-cheek lines in between. Mike Patton or not, that one's story could have been MUCH better. Loved the swinging though...
- The web of whatever cutscenes are fantastic, the overall art direction and the inclusion of real-world images/video really make me take that detour to get the next node. The distorted visual effects and disturbing images remind me of the intro/outro to Dawn of the Dead 2004 or even the Jenova scenes in Final Fantasy VII, the blending/shifting sound layers complement the images.
(Besides, I have frequent stuttering during some of the web videos and I've been wondering if that was intentional - the "metallic" sound during hic-ups seemed like a great effect - or if it was a problem with my DVD. Gotta try installing this one to the drive to be sure.)
Maybe in 4 or 5 pages, when people are done evaluating if this DE FACTO a good game or a bad game, we could talk about the actual art in the game. Shouldn't we talk more about the actual content of games rather than the control scheme or if "I had a good/bad time with it"? Imagine we were all standing in a museum, gazing at an expensive picture...

Right, because you wouldn't see a guy standing 10 centimeters from you BEING CONSUMED by a mutant.
Also, you wouldn't notice weapons lying around.
And missing personell IN A FUCKIN MILITARY BASE.
But meh, it's nitpicking really.

Splinter Cell? Sometimes when you caught a guy wandering, his friend would come and notice he's not there.
Besides, the point is that the enemies don't notice a guy slurping all the soldiers in, even if they are standing 5 centimeters from each other.

OH MY GOD!? WHEREZ DA REALIZM. WHAT A STOOPID GAME!?!?!?
And he has a skill btw, though at times it's a bit bugged (?).
Edit: after watching the movie, there's definitely something bugged about his game. I can't stealth consume when I'm being watched.

my guess is that the being watched part only applies to military units since I can stealth consume in the middle of a civilian crowd

Of course, only when military watches you. That's when that sphere turn yellow. I've tried it just now though, it seems that under the right angle you can do it. I guess it's a glitch.

Besides which, stealth gameplay is only a minor part of this game. Unlike Splinter Cell for example, where it is the entire gameplay conceit.
I'm actually surprised people are being so critical of minor aspects of this game when it does so many things on at least an acceptable level.
The only reason why people complaining about this game annoys me is because I love it, and I want it to succeed. Of course my enjoyment of the game won't be affected, but if it does well commercially then hopefully there would be a sequel, or at least more games of this genre.

Playing on hard and I can't get past that mission before(?) you fight Elizabeth Green. And there is no way to turn down the difficult after you started the game, its so frustrating.

I really enjoy this game but the side mission is a little disappointing... I'm not a big fan of time trial and most of the time I barely made it to bronze. They should have side mission like Infamous or GTA not some damn time trials.

Spoiler: | Just follow him all the time, you will hit 2 or 3 tank barriers, destroy these, after that the tank gets a consume icon and you can get him. |
I finished the game yesterday evening... and oh boy, if you think that Elizabeth Greene was bad, the endboss is worse. No tanks around to use just some helicopters, and at 1/4 of his health bar even those leave and you get a freaking time limit of 1:30 for the rest of his health. Add to that that he constantly is at your tail and is running faster than you...
I succeeded after about an hour by just dashing away from him, picking up the occasional vehicle with muscle mass and throwing it into him when he just recovered from a jump attack. About 1/4 of a second before the countdown hit 0 I hit him one final time in his face with my fist.
Btw, did anyone else notice that some of the achivements are just crazy? Play through the story without getting killed? Play through the story by just consuming a maximum of 10 civilians? Towards the end I died so often it wasn't even funny. If I wasn't in a tank I basically was dead in 30 seconds.

I'd say about 10-15 hours for just the story (that's what I did, almost no side events, no city rampage). Pretty nice actually.

gonna go back at it now but dam it sounds frustrating, taggert mission is proving to be a pain I dont last that long even in a tank and if i get out? forget about it. I am sure it will get worse i hear the last boss with the time trial shit is relentless but the game will probably piss me off enough that i HAVE to finish it.
