mini review
been playing for an hour or so, the game runs really well it seems but you can most of the time tell why, generic textures for buildings and muddy textures too, though its a sacrifice thats easy to make considering the amount of cars/peds/destruction you can accumulate on screen, the city is what interested me, sometimes it looks alright yet most of the time most of the buildings have the same lod texture

theres two other images in that gallery too.

I guess they had to do what they could to keep the pace of the game, not a bad sacrifice in my opinion. Will post a mini review after playing some more, but so far so good, it doesnt look awful and plays nice and smooth.
AMD 6400+ clocked @ 3.4 ghz 4 GB memory and SLI 8800GT's 512 so mines a pretty average rig by todays standards.

I cleaned the thread a bit, nobody cares if you see it on your "tracker" of choice or how fast you're downloading it, continue down that path and be banned.

Running on Q6600 @3GHz, GF8800GT OC, 8GB DDR2. Very smoothly everything on max with 4x AA.
Gameplay is addictive. The more I play (and therefore unlock moves/upgrades) the more I like the game. Hopefuly it will continue like that for at least few more hours before it gets repetitive. I'm in mid-mission (free roam) and even then it's loads of fun just fucking around in the city. Very enjoyable.

Install took a short period of time, have no idea why it took some of you guys so long to install it.
The game looks quite nice, all settins are set on "high". You can climb any building. You can pick almost every object and throw it. You can even capture pedestrians and throw them, too! You can dismember the others. You can pick weapons and shoot. Pedestrians react to your actions. For example, if you just jumped from the roof of a building, they stop and look up nervously, "what's up here?" ))) Vehicles look nice, too. You can jump on one of the vehicles around you and it will carry you... )
I tried the game and will buy it as soon as it is released here.

it seems i can look at the city fine but as soon as I look out to sea or at seemingly nothing i can barely move the mouse for stuttering, yet mega action packed sequences are fine, seems really strange
hard to explain but if Im in a building too and i look out to where it would stutter, it still does despite being inside a building. strange problem wonder if its drivers. seems like some kind of shader issue or something that could be patched.

Yes the mouse is sometimes absolutely fucked up, but very good game overall. Runs very nicely maxed out with 4xAA and forced 16xAF on 1080P resolution, doesnt look too fancy but considering how damn much there is pedestrians and shit same time on screen its understandable. Controls also are pretty unbeliavable on default settings, would prefer pad instead of mouse/keyboard combo on this one. Anyways addicting game |
Ive now noticed the stuttering is something to do with looking at the 'fake' city that surrounds the main playing area.

Anyone else having an issue with the audio being way to low in the game? I've checked both in game settings and out of game settings and I have to pretty much nearly max out every volume setting there is to even get a decent audio level.

"Prototype is a game with many cool features. However, it lacks many of the finishing touches that make for a great and memorable game. To say the graphics and game engine need work is a massive understatement and many of the missions are cookie cutter in design without any real focus or attention to detail. Thankfully, Alex Mercer's absorbing and shape shifting powers manage to overcome many of the shortcomings of Prototype. Though the missions themselves aren't anything special, the vast array of powers provides their own variety and flair."
Just installed it and the Hard difficulty is locked...........
It seems to be common Activision practice these days.
Edit: Slick menus, good port, "enough" graphical options - AA, shadows, detail, supports my resolution, subtitles, ability to save in different slots, seems to be really polished. I loooove having a log, I hate missing dialogue, there's also statistics. The game looks all right, certainly better than WoS, cinematics are top notch and you can also alt-tab without problems which is a big plus for me. The mouse feels heavy though and I hate the camera angle.
Just my initial impressions - barely had 15 minutes of playing time.

Did you ever figure out a fix? Mines doing this too. The sound during FMV cutscenes is garbled and the ingame sounds are playing really fast like if you spin a record fast on a record player.
Specs:
Vista 64 ultimate SP1
Q9550 2.8 ghz
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P F-9 BIOS
4Gb Gskill 1066 ram
GeForce GTX 260
Audio Adapter Realtek ALC889A @ Intel 82801JB ICH10 - High Definition Audio Controller

Fixed it! If you're using realtek audio go to the realtek audio manager, default format, and click restore defaults (24bits, 48000 Hz studio quality) for all devices.
Now the only problem is the sound volume is too low.
