Has anyone here made a considerable profit from adsense?

I have been giving thought to starting an 'informative' site or blog to benefit solely from google adsense. Is it really possible to earn somewhat of a profit, even a living from this?

Can you share your experience with it? How much does it make you per day? per week? month? Is it really as simple as it looks?

It is possible to make a living out of adsense, a contact of mine is making well over $300 a day out of adsense alone, but it seems that you are just now starting IM, and since Adsense TOS are the most rigid in the market and also considering they check virtually everything on your clicks history, I would advise to use Adbrite, you can still get high paying clicks, fast payouts, and they are a little bit more lenient when compared to Adsense.

Also, if you plan to build a site or blog, I would strongly recommend CPA instead of PPC, you can make 5 or 10 times as much money with CPA as you would make with the same traffic with a PPC program.

Wouldn't it be difficult to even get any visitors to your site? I mean, you need to advertise your site in the first place so wouldn't it take awhile before you start profiting?

I guess you need to buy a domain name that is very similar to something popular like facebook or something. Very Happy

It doesnt work like that really.

The best way of doing it is to create an information site that is updated regularly on a niche topic, that will get visitors via search engines on such topics and word of mouth. Start small, build gradually.

There's a very simple IM fact, Traffic equals Money.

Get your traffic, preferably targeted traffic, and you'll be making money, getting traffic is easier that what it looks, there are a million ways to get traffic for free, a million more to get paid traffic, just research and use your brain, put yourself in the position of a regular internet user and think about what are you looking for when you go to a certain site.

at any given time there is almost 1 billion people online worldwide, more than 60% of those live either in a native English country or use internet only in English, that gives you on average 600 million people every day are your possible customers Wink

No. Not porn. Porn isnt allowed on adsense I dont think?

nor is video sites or videoblogging as far as im aware.. not sure though.

Im talking about information for something popular to all audiences; which porn is not.

nope, no porn on adsense. probably cause they don't want site visitors get swamped by porn adwords/adsense stuff.

@Krille666: the whole niche stuff is really quite easy... you either establish yourself as a guru on an certain topic (fake it till you make it, then fake it even more Very Happy ). or just read through the newspapers, google trends, ebay pulse etc for hot stuff, maybe even watch fuckin oprah. you just have to be quick, smash adsense (or adbrite etc) on it, optimize it, let it run.
but don't get me wrong, it takes quite some time to make any decent cash out of IM...i started a few months ago and about 6-700€/month was the most i ever got (and even that was thanks to a stroke of luck)

its doable though. You just need to find a niche that suits you well, has little competition and high interest value. Seems easy in a nutshell however.. but it isnt that easy. I have a good idea of what I want to do with it atm, I have my niche, and I have the plans. Just got to find the time to put it into motion, as im quite busy with various other online motions (im an entrepreneur, i make my entire living online)

there is no "best" way. methods get saturated, TOS change, it really moves and changes quite quick. you have to find ways that fit you.
some forums to read through:
warriorforum
wickedfire
digitalpoint (well this one is actually more suited for actually making money instead of learning, thanks to the huge festering idiot user cesspool over there)
blackhatworld (bunch of good ppl over there, but also shitloads of kiddies)

there's also 2 private torrent sites out there with loads of learning material (video seminars, ebooks, audiobooks etc) which have a combined net worth of probably a few million bucks, but i don't think it's allowed to post em here, besides that stuff is mostly just a waste of time.

300 $ per day really sounds tempting but you've really get to come up with a good idea + you should'nt need to do work that is worth more than you earn per day Laughing

I have a great idea. In fact, it was my GF's idea Smile We should be getting the ball rolling soon, we found an incredible niche to work from that we think will get thousands of hits. Also we are planning on using youtube to generate even more interest. This is OK in the TOS right?

you mean getting traffic to your site through youtube? of course it's ok, google couldn't care less how you get your traffic (as long as it's no junk traffic), especially if it's targeted anyway.

apart from the fact that those few users who are savvy enough to install ABP probably won't click the ads anyway...google would just find a way to circumvent it or maybe (as a last resort) boycott the hell out of firefox/ABP, considering how much money google ads make Wink

on the other hand, if an add is really worth paying for a lot, end users are really keen to click on it, so hiding those adds is not a big issue. People who use adblocker would not click anyway.

Example: I am going into the mountains and i am looking for an online gear shop. So i am browsing some sites and i see some add from a shop i recognize with the perfect gear i want. Of course i will click it. Because i am in 'monetizable land' already. I want to buy, i am looking for the right place to buy, thats all. I am not doubting about whether to buy or not, i am just looking for the cheapest price of a certain product.

That is the type of users you want because a) they click a lot and b) those clicks are worth a lot because conversion for the advertiser is high. So yeah, and addblocker is cool for a 20 yr old using opera/firefox to say a big 'fuck you' to the online add world, which is his good right... But sometimes people intentionally want those adds.

Dude that must be an exaggeration, 1/6th of the worlds population on-line at the same time? That's ridiculous.
