It's called Guitar Hero Smash Hits in the USA, right? And it's Guitar Hero Greatest Hits in Europe and Australia?

So why does the supposed NTSC rip Guitar.Hero.Smash.Hits.RF.XBOX360.MARVEL look like this on my PAL 360?

^ That's PAL, right? Should we be waiting until June 24th to take it online?

US: June 16, 2009
Europe: November 29, 2009
Australia: June 24, 2009

It's RF so what does it matter. And most importantly no one knows how bans happen. All the prevention methods are pure speculation (not going online before release date being one of them). So just go and play it.

As a general rule I always stick to release dates. Better to be safe than sorry Wink

NFO clearly states NTSC source though.

If it was an NTSC rip surely it would say Smash Hits on the title screen?

maybe it checks the region of the box like mortal kombat did. that would explain the different title screen

You could be right, Janz. Can any NTSC users confirm?

Strangely enough, when I pop this in the drive, on the NXE part where it says "My Xbox" this game comes up as "Guitar Hero Hits" with neither "smash" nor "greatest" included. That being said, it would seem to lend to the possibility that it changes based on the region of your console. It was probably easier for them to do it this way methinks. I'd tell you what mine says when I booted up the game, but I just turned it off and can't be bothered to check. If I do, I'll let you know. Not a bad game though.

Maybe if you thought about it with your brain knuckle head you would realize even though there are two names, the achievements share the same name to stop people earning 2k gamescore aka stacking the games on there list also to make it cheaper for production

There have been a lot of games that detect what region your in to localize the game correct to your area, maybe someone in the us would have noticed this days ago now. I can think of two right away Mortal Vs DC & Mercenaries 2 both had some kind of region detection for censorship reasons lol.

Why was this topic even created?

Thank you m0dm0use. So are you confirming that when played on your NTSC console, this release shows as Smash Hits on the title screen? Are you confirming that, or are you just guessing?

It's a simple question which anyone with an NTSC machine could answer in a second. I guess I'll just have to put one more tick in the "lazy fat americans" column.
