I have to say, that trailer made me cry. It was so well made, and in steps Darth Malak, the main enemy from Knights of the Old Republic. I WANT KOTOR3 DAMMIT, not WoW in Star Wars clothing!!!!!!
And yes, they should make movies about the Old Republic, movies NOT directed by George Lucas (he has lost his touch unfortunately).

huh!? people liked that trailer?! no way.
the game looks so goddamn cheap. it weakens everything cool about the SW universe, well except maybe the bad guy, he was still cool. but jedi fights are supposed to be 1v1 or like 3v3 max. and graceful! and with a very clear sense of purpose! now suddenly everyone's a jedi and they're dieing off left right and center. for no bloody reason!
*start scene*
People in office gathered around huge man-sized rectangular box.
BOSS: Guess what people we got a new stormtrooper, fresh from the clone vats!
Guy 1: what's it got?
BOSS reading off brochure: It has brand new armour, new communications system, more accurate vision, better muscle control and a new weapon of some kind.
BOSS opens crate.
Revealing a Jedi.
*PSSHHH* turns on lightsaber, green glow illuminating the box and surroundings.
PAUSE FOR EFFECT.
Enter blaster shot from stage right.
Jedi takes the hit and he dies (he didn't see it coming you see).
Camera pans right to reveal a squad of regular clone troopers tearing up the office and stealing everything.
*end scene*
Jedis fail now. Episode 2 made it bad (it was necessary there), this makes it worse. At least the many dark jedi in Jedi knight 2 made sense. They were explained to be weaker crap ones anyway. And in SWKoToR you recruited your party straight out of the Jedi academies and whatnot, it was clear the 195billion other people in the universe were regular. Now every tom dick and harry in the mmo are gonna be jedis. a guy in a robe with a light stick that isn't special, but indeed common? that equals jedi Not cool anymore.
not to mention that in episode 4-5-6 the lightsabers looked awesome, like pure sharp and sometimes inconsistent bolts of LIGHT. as if they were an actual device that actually existed and fluctuated accordingly. it made them seem more dangerous as well, that slight unpredictability meant they were never 100% perfect and if something isn't stable, you don't trust it as much, hence increased danger. in the new eps they were merely slightly softer high quality cg, a bit too perfect, tho soft, but they were still okay. Now in this they're clearly shorter and softer lit CYLINDERS of colour. CYLINDERS! it's light with geometry!
the trailer uses the same goddamn standbys from all the sw stuff. clip of ship flying over camera into planet. clip of city, focused on building, clip of building with characters introduced. intrigue with the bounty hunter (oo surprising), the combat is better! but more violent and really, that's cheap. it only needs grace, violence is easy and common in movies, grace isn't. areoplane into building = 9/11. yay, original! omg just kill me now.
just shitacular. but hey, that's 32 years of a single franchise for you. a franchise where the love died ages ago. eh what do i even care, it died with episode one. if you guys like it, i spose it will do well. and i spose that's good because maybe another jedi knight will be made or something. sigh at least the new star trek's good.
TL;DR Star Wars is shit now. Now more than ever.

The trailer was nice but tells us absolutely nothing about the game itself other than it's a Star Wars thing and it has a familiar bad guy in it.

It's pretty obvious that it's telling whats happening in the timeline. Shedding some light on the story, Coruscant being ransacked by the Sith. No doubt this will be something major in the game itself.

You don't have to play it then and with this comment you stated your opinion, now be gone. Oh an afaik the timeline this plays in was before the sith being extinct or the jedi being purged by the empire.
So why shouldn't there be many jedi in a galaxy with so many people that nobody would be able to count them, lets do some math if 1% of the universe population had the force, then it would still be more than people able to play the game on this planet.  If even that escapes your logic if you follow the timeline after episodes 1-6 there are still people who are force sensitive but just weren't trained as jedi/sith.

The trailer is pretty damn cool, but they'll have to come up with more than flash and action in the actual game. I'd like to know how they plan on handling class balance and the jedi rarity issue.. and then I guess I'm just suspicous in general. Imagine the main hub, 75 'jedi' jumping around, switching their lightsabers on and off and going "lol, my penis glows". Would make me wish for a singleplayer game for sure.

What Jedi rarity issue? You do realize that this is set in a timeline well before Jedi were hunted down to extinction..

Yes I realize that the jedi weren't down to a handful during the Old Republic, but I'd still say they were relatively few, and that it would seem to create an odd situation in an MMO if such a large portion of the playerbase as seems likely end up being jedi or sith.
Were there more jedi than bounty hunters, or than republic troopers?
On top of that, the only way I can see to encourage players go with other classes is to drastically rebalance the Star Wars universe to where jedi and sith aren't nearly as powerful as all the other material has already established - which seems like an awkward way to take as well.

You do realize that there will be a lot more npc from other classes then jedi and sith combined?
So while there will be a lot more force wielders in 'real world players', fact we all know too well, it will be compensated in the universe, by having more other classes as npc's, so it wont be as noticable, and it will achive the impression that at the time, there were indeed a lot more jedi, then in the stories we know.

Yeah, maybe. I obviously don't know how NPCs will work or how the game world will be set up in ToR, but traditionally, NPCs in MMOs aren't very significant when compared to the "real world players". In the end, those are the ones you play with, interact with, depend on, and most likely have to suffer watching jumping up and down swinging their lightsabers.

So Jedi Knight and Dark Forces were shit games too? Maybe you are full of shit. The true shit was KOTOR made by assholes where you go on some lame quests of bringing items or messages. KOTOR 2 had the worst story and ending ever made in RPG or Star Wars game.
What happens with this MMO? It sucks, it is fucking stupid, made for 4-year old kiddies wetting their beds. Thousands of dark and regular Jedis fighting infinitely!? The whole appeal of Jedis was that they were special and only few could make it. Now that everyone is Jedi, what is so special about them? What happened to the rule of one evil master and his apprentice?
Monthly fee? There are so many MMOs that are free now that this must be some serious joke.

Name 1 good FREE mmo. And by good i mean all over. Production, setup, movement, questing, pvp etc. It doesn't exist. There is no free quality mmo.
8 out of 10 dentists prefer zipfero to competing brands(fraich3 and Mutantius)!

The thing you are all missing is that this is a story based MMO. And as far as i know there isnt a good story based MMO. If Bioware can pull it off it could well be worth paying for.
If there are universe changing events that can change the whole outcome of the game instead of enter this realm, play quests, ad infinitum then yes.. I would be in..
There isnt an MMO that does that. And thats the main reason I dont play them. I'd rather have a good single player RPG with an excellent story than an Everquest, WOW grind.
Here is to hoping, but not expecting it...
I do have to say that the trailer is the best damn CGI I have seen for a game in a long long time... Technically its very good. I could watch a movie done in that style VERY easily...

They flaunt their fully-voiced feature like it was a well-balanced, multi-tiered raiding endgame. Better hope they can deliver on other fronts too.
