Earlier today I flashed a BenQ drive for this kid using jungleflasher. It was such a quick and painfree process. Just unlock, read, save, and then write.

For my hitachi, which I refuse to change because its such a quiet drive, whenever I have the drive connected to my via raid card and then I turn on the console, either fungleflasher doesn't recognize the drive or my computer freezes. Alright so I decided to do it the old school way by using a slax disc to get the drive into modeB and then using the batch file that somebody recommended on this forum to restore and then flash it.

So i get the drive into modeB using the slax disc, and then my windows wont load!! Until I turn off the console (losing modeB). Clearly theres a problem with my via raid card driver so I would like to know which driver works best with hitachi drives and where can I find this driver.

Ive been trying to flash this thing for hours but still no luck.

-THANKS!

odd problem.

This might help, as its generally what I do. Boot using the slax disc, set the drive to modeB. Now pull out the sata cable between the xbox and the computer (leave the xbox on). Restart the PC and boot into windows. Reconnect the Sata cable. Windows should now detect a new drive.

Regarding jungleflasher crashing. I also have this problem flashing my liteon. Found it was because the ports where clashing on my comm ports.

Hmm I haven't thought of this. Interesting idea indeed i will try it in a little bit and post results. Also I plan to flash it using a batch file (not jungleflasher) that somebody suggested in this forum.

If you keep the drive only because it's quiet, consider a HDD - which makes any drive quited.

i did mine last week ,tried with a via raid card and couldnt see it just like u
unpluged the via card and used my intel sata ,works perfect
also came across this
only works if the drive has been flashed before mine is a 59, check for working with other revisions
turn on xbox
open drive , leave open
pull out power lead from back of xbox
put back in power lead
it should be now in mobe b

ah, yeah. I'd never done it via a via card. I've always done it through internal sata on an nvidia chipset.

Saying that though, I still experience all the above issues with freezing using jungle flasher. I tried iprep but thats even worse with me. My computer hates .net 2 framework for some unknown reason.

As for above, yeah thats correct. However, you can't use that method if you plan using jungleflasher as JF won't flash already flashed drives. You therefore have to restore it and go back into into using something like th slax method.

In all honestly, hitachi's are a pain in the arse. Even liteons are easier.

Grimmmy, your method worked. After I got the drive into modeB I disconnected the Sata cable and power cycled the computer only and got into windows. So then i ran the batch file and it restored back to original FW just fine. But Ive spent the last few hours trying to flash it. When I run the batch file for flashing the drive, it just freezes after it asks me to name a backup folder name. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the sata cable and still no luck. Tried power cycling the comp and everything. Got the drive into modeB several times.

I got into jungleflasher and JF recognized the drive. Tried flashing, no luck. It just freezes. So now my drive is stuck in stock mode lol. And the person above is right, I guess I can just always install to HDD if I want the quiet. I have 2 elite systems sitting in my room and was planning to sell them both but I think Im just going to have to keep one and get rid of the hitachi xbox.

I opened one of these Elite systems and what I find is a Benq 7485 drive would not unlock in jungleflasher....

I opened the 2nd elite system and found a BenQ drive that was 6000 something. It unlocked quickly and was flashed easily with JF. So Im keeping the one I opened second. The first one that I opened, I put it back together and somehow the big green warranty was still intact so its like I never even opened it in the first place Laughing

Also the elite system Im keeping, I already personalized it like my previous hitachi console. I cut parts of the plastic case using a knife so I wont have to push those little things in at the back of the console when I get RROD. Which Im absolutely certain I will get within the next few months. There is no xbox that will not experience RROD Razz
