It's not dlss, has nothing to do with it, nvidia drivers are just a mess. it's not like dlss wasn't used before. Basically, before this I would have the same fps regardless of resolution or anything, now scaling actually works. I don't know. This was only an issue in a few games as well, not like it affected everything. So yeah, went from 50 to 90+ at 1440p in Stalker 2 specifically. Now, in 4k it was around 50 before and now it's around 60, but yeah... it's a mess. And what you said about the drivers not fixing it for you, that's why nvidia is even more of a mess than ever.

Same drivers, similar laptop, just a 4090 instead of a 4080, and the guy's frametimes just went to shit with this same driver.

And like I said, Shadps4 frametime again, before changing to this driver it was 150-300 and around 20fps, now it's closer to 10 and running smooth at 4k 60+fps(locked at 60 atm).

Before this driver I had to either run version 0.9 or earlier of shadps4 to get decent frametime and framerate, or I would have to use a driver from autumn of 2024. It's just stupid. And again, this driver I had before was generally stable, with most games running well, outside of Stalker 2, Returnal, Marvel Rivals (200+fps terrible frametime and stutters) and shadps4, it was 581.08.

Most other drivers in 2025 either had some other esoteric problem, or it would just crash certain games or whatever.

Well, so anyway, now that I can actually play it fine... It's ok I guess. It's nowhere near as good as the og, but hey... I'm not even sure how I would see the og if I played it now for the first time, but the enemy AI leaves a lot to be desired at least.

I just wish it wasn't such a busy, muddy, mess of visuals, where you can't see shit at a distance, especially with vegetation, to the point where you don't know where people are shooting at you from most times. Also, the normal game flashlight is just a joke, so playing with a mod is very much necessary. The eye adaption visual when entering/exiting buildings is way too strong and jarring.

The native HDR is kind of shit and washed out, so using renodx is a must.Oh, yeah... I hate this shitty filter they have over the screen, that just adds more noise and shit to further muddy the already cluttered visuals.

The english VA is horrible, not only does it feel out of place, but I don't feel like most of them gave a shit, at least so far, only at the second area in the game.

I don't know, I feel like the weight capacity system is a joke, and serves more to make the game a chore than anything else. Given that there's no time constraints, or actual serious threat with walking through the zone, it kind of just wastes your time instead of actually forcing difficult decisions. Hell, most of the times you'll just get extra loot cause some new dickheads would populate an area, or the old ones would get killed by someone else, so whatever...

The moment to moment shooting is solid, hampered only by the visuals. For some maybe that's a bonus, makes it more frantic/chaotic, but the problem is that it's not really on the player, you're not punished for your own lack of awareness, but for the graphics.

Can't say much for the artifacts so far, only got like 5 or something like that, and so far it's either been all positive and so great, or a mix of slight positive and radiation, and so terrible. Again, there's probably going to be actual choices to make later on.

The zone monsters feel like a resource drain. They're just a chore, since they're generally harder to deal with than humans, but they don't really give much of a reward, even worse since they're acting like MMO grind mobs, where most of the same creatures are missing the key organ you want from them. It is, what it is, but they're not particularly fun, or engaging to fight. They pretty much all do the same, limited and scripted run around bs, and it's just really disappointing. Like if you've fought one of a specific type of creature, you've fought them all, since they do the exact same thing, every single time.

The world just generally feels more empty and artificial than the previous. Like even the whole repopulation of areas feels hollow and forced.
