Thankfully UI is one of the things that modders tend to prioritize. But no rush here to play (or buy), plenty of great stuff on my backlog, plus Civ6 can still provide my 4x fix
So this is yarrable on Linux only at the moment (saw a release by Razor)? I'm assuming this has something to do with Linux not playing nicely with Denuvo?
This game is growing on me the more I play it. Getting used to the shit UI. Playing Fractal maps make the world somewhat better looking than giant squares for continents.

I agree. Sure, i wish it had more stuff like perhaps Civ6 with all its expansion..but i hope we get it at some point.
The combat system is entertaining. There is still alot i don't know yet (cos its such a big difference from Civ1-6) but its growing on me.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.
Started a game yesterday at 6:00 PM ...
Looked at my watch a few turns later ... 2:00 AM
Definitely a Civ game here
Gameplay is excellent, influence points are finally useful, diplomacy and combat are way better as well.
But !
UI is awful indeed and some simple QoL elements are missing (why ? serioulsy) like :
- no auto focus when an enemy is attacking your units
- no units list
- no reminder about "what the hell did I just finished building in that city?"
- no way to rename cities
- no auto exploration for scouts
These are really simple elements, so why did they miss them
But the game is great enough to keep me hooked in so far.

Hey, Civ fans! Early Access has finally arrived, and it's great to see both franchise veterans and new players begin to jump in with Sid Meier's Civilization VII!
Guys, guys, why the criticism, didn't you know this is an EA game? For just 70€
The numbers don't decide, the system is a lie. The river running dry, the wings of butterflies.
And you may pour us away like soup. Like we're pretty broken flowers.
We'll take back what is ours. One day at a time.
What a rip off this is. 50% extra for deluxe and casually adding some stuff like extra civs, leaders and wonders in cause they know that's what the fanatic fan base wants. As if the base game isn't way to expensive allready.
So every time you advance an age, you are forced to choose a new civ to play as, and then the game reloads with half your stuff reset? Who thought that was a good idea

I guess they talk about Anticipated access (for deluxe/Founder editions) and not EA as we are used to

Yep, I don't think I am a great fan of this idea as well

I know what they probably meant. But there's a real difference between Early Access and Advanced Access. On their store page it says Advanced Access. An EA game is not finished, an AA is finished and you pay for faster access.
According to a post on the steam forum, there are actually 3 separate files, one for each era. Like it's actually 3 separate games glued together. Truly amazing

yeah, the game loads the next Era

Could be fun in VR, but hopefully game sessions wont last +8 hours straight
As for Civ VII so far : the more I play the more a love it
Less complex/complete than Civ VI yet of course
But !
Way more fun (I can't explain why, maybe less micro management) more beautiful, but what really shine here is : combat, these war leader mechanics are just excellent. Especially if you manage to keep leaders alive trough ages so they keep their bonuses which can be a game changer.
On performance notes, turns are incredibly fast compared to the previous game. I often wait like an idiot whereas the turn is already done
IA is way improved as well and diplomacy is more "fluid' and convincing, I like how they come and propose some deal with you when you got enough influence point so you don't forgot to use them.
I am almost finished with my first Exploration age (2nd part). I was a little confused at first with this "game rearrangement" on start but it goes rather well.
It turns out I what I like the most is the game starts, where you go out with your scouts to discover new things. So it was like a second "start" here when you go with bigger ships to make your way through oceans and I kinda liked it
On the other side, I am still not a fan of this Leaders / Civs mixing nonsense
Edit : Oh, a thing a really like is that some buildings/Wonders you build may trigger some game events with differents choices which bring even more bonuses.

That is the only thing I liked some of the past ones for. the micromanagement. I wanted it more Stellaris-like (my turn taking 15 minutes of tweaking/managing exactly how I want it), not less.
But thats just me, Im a sucker for games that get exponentially more complex as the hours go on.
that graph yikes .... people are done with civ bigtime
Which is too bad, after the patches the game turned out quite good. But I still cant understand why they implanted the drastic Era change in the first place. Tbh I think thats one of the reason many old players gave up on it or just skipped it totally.

Era change, strategic ressources usage and Civ/Leader unhistorical mixes were a big mistakes, indeed.
Devs seems to minimize the impact it has on player base, but they won't be able to hide it for ever.
Also I still have to use mods (UI, Units management, ...) to have a fully enjoyable gameplay experience.
A shame because on some parts (Diplomacy, combats, ...) Civ VII do better than last games.
Updates made the game better, but they really need to LISTEN to the community if they want to save this sequel.

I agree... and also, I cant understand why they didnt bring along the stuff they made in the DLC for CiV6 as part of the standard game. As in govenors and such. (I guess money, but still).
I do like the fact that you get rewarded for playing the same leader - but their leader list is very very odd...

I still miss my units management feature.
But after playing some sessions while their (beta) features Workshop thingy and latest update, I would lie if I say I didn't enjoy it.
Narrative events adds so much to the immersion and AI opponents are really nice and capable now.
I would definitely do just another turn

I'll play it again. I haven't touched it since launch, although I still need the Earth map, which from what I've searched, isn't close to being released yet.
