I dont like the kinect , but it worked alot better for me than it did for angry joe. I completed the first mission ok, but on the second where I had to crawl and then hit a detonation plunger I kept dying. Gave up in rage

on topic: its sad that steel battalion was so bad. i still think kinect has potential for real games. if they combined kinect with a regular controller i think they could do some neat things...

It's a damned shame actually, because of all the games that you'd think would fit full-body motion controls; a freaking MECH game sure fits the bill. If Kinect had have been as accurate and powerful as it was originally designed to be, it could have been a lot more impressive.
Oh well, better luck next decade/generation MS.

when i think of a game like steel battalion and kinect, i imagine a setup where you control aim/movement/shooting with a normal controller like any other game, and use kinect to manipulate an on-screen cockpit covered in buttons and switches and stuff (cooling system, window wiper, communications, targeting, night/thermal vision etc) via a semi transparent hand icon/pointer or something like that. you could also use kinects mic/voice recognition for communicating with ai team mates...
this way you have a normal mech game that feels just like any other you might have played, but with the extra features added on that set it apart. trying to make a 'kinect' mech game was a mistake imo. kinect is not good enough to be 'the' controller for games like this. its fun for fruit ninja (extremely fun) but thats all there is to fruit ninja. these guys (devs in general) have to stop trying to make 'kinect' games, and start making games that can use it to subtly enhance 'normal' games without wrecking them...
