Holy shit. This came right out of the blue! I was furious when Arrowhead announced that this would be Playstation only, it looks really good... but to suddenly see it appear on Steam? No fanfare? Just "here you go, it's on Steam, launches next month"? Wow. Hell, it was only in February when they said it wasn't coming to other platforms. What happened?

Just read about this news. Looks interesting. Very Happy

It would be great if Sony can bring in some of their Playstation 3 games on PC too. Smile

changed the trailer in OP to actual PC announcement one
... interesting that it still retains the PlayStation logo . Greatness also awaits on Steam i guess.

Wonder why they are publishing it as Playstation Mobile Confused

other interesting info Wink
Quote:
The fact that Helldivers will see a Steam release is remarkable enough -- Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt .took to Reddit earlier this year ( https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/2x5jrs/we_are_arrowhead_soon_to_release_helldivers_ama/cox2pu4 ) to explain to fans that the game would likely never come to PC because of Arrowhead's business relationship with Sony
.....
When reached for comment by Gamasutra, a PlayStation representative noted that PlayStation Mobile Inc. is now seen as "our off-console distribution entity, that initially published on mobile platforms," and thus it's responsible for Helldivers' PC debut.

However, the representative declined to state whether or not Sony intends to continue publishing games to PC and other platforms under the PlayStation Mobile brand.

SP also, but it's "geared" towards co-op.. like Destiny Smile Quite a lot of people refer to this as the isometric Destiny, heh.

Game is a lot of fun!

Some people gonna be mad here, even when playing SP you need to be connected to the servers, kinda like Elite Dangerous

And playing alone past the first 2 planets is nearly impossible, way too hard

Most of the upcoming games are all SP for whatever reason. I'll be all over this when it's out next month. Co-op, loot, friendly fire? Give me a way to order nao! Drooling

Well, that looks interesting!
The huge HUD and the zoomed in view screams mobile game though. Hopefully it can be changed later on.
I also hope the price will be reasonable. Or else the online part will be dead pretty soon.

Doesnt feel reallly like a mobile game when you play it.
Feels a lot like Alien Swarm, but maybe more team focused, and with level, crafting, loot and upgrades!

from Steam FAQ, but dont really know what the global galactic actually means
Quote:
Multiplayer and Online/Offline Combinations

Helldivers offers 4-player local and online co-op multiplayer. You can also play the game offline with 1 - 4 local players, however when played offline, mission progress will not contribute to the global galactic campaign.

That's more like it and that actually reminds me of Dead Nation, another PS3 exclusive (goddamn it.. bring THAT to PC! Seriously!) which was a fantastic zombie apocalypse twin shooter that you could play just fine in SP/offline, or multiplayer online, and if you played online you could contribute to your country fighting the infection Very Happy

You can play offline atleast on the consoles afaik should be the same for PC. And for the people who think they wanna play this for the SP, forget about it. This aint a SP game. The game basically plays better with 2 or more people (+ you) atleast. On difficulties above 6 you can solo missions 7 or 8 with a specific loadout. The objectives aren't that intresting it's just go to A B C do their thing and back to A. It's a fun co-op game for a few weeks but it's basically always the same thing. I see dead nation here and that game is actually better and is more of a SP game then this will ever be. It's just killing things and getting points to lvl up and unlock stuff, do some defend objectives, type in a sort of code objectives, blow up objective, escort people to a base and carry a briefcase to a base. The point is basically do this alot to reach a home planet sometimes there are also defend city missions in order to not lose the current region. You need like 10 regions or so to reach a home planet and then you can kill them off until the war resets. All in all a fun game for a few weeks tops. Gets boring real fast after that and it's really boring playing solo, lol. I got it on PSN on launch for about €17 would not not pay much more and the DLC is abominal expensive as it only adds a few guns and stratagems stuff.

Want to know that too. Only found it on Steam for sale, no keyshops. But 20€ is a bit too much for this.
The preorder bonus seem pretty massive too, with all those items/unlocks. Or can you unlock those by playing normally too?
