What do you do at the end of a long, rough day to get away from the things that trouble you? Grab a brew? Light one up? Play your favorite game? Sex? Reading? Anything you do to take your mind off things list em here and how/why they work for ya.

Not much works for me. The most effective way to take my mind off things is a movie or tv.

Nothing works for me.

Unless I find one of those rare occasions where i have a really sick videogame or i get into a movie i havent seen before.
But that rarely happens.

Laughing Why do you think I have insomnia? I have problems relaxing to the point of sleep

Mars Volta. Max Volume.

Queen. Max volume.

Or going into the bathroom with the lights off and sitting in cold water. With outside noise canceling headphones. Razz

Does your mind race when you are lying in bed and suddenly you find its like 6am and you have to get up soon? Recently I've been having a huge problem with this.

@Waldo - Music is pretty good sometimes but usually just makes me think so much more. Sad
It might depend on the music.

Isn't it tho? It's calming. I wouldn't say it's relaxing. I relax shorly after I'm calm. Razz

Yeah man. Thats exactly what happens (i think i mentioned it in my insomnia thread).

I'll start out thinking about some specific and then branch off into anything and everything. And then it gets to the point where im trying to sleep so much im keeping myself awake...its so fucked up man Neutral

Its stress.

You must have something on your mind. Whether its a concious (sp?) thought or not.

Yea man, I miss the summer. Spent my days working my ass off, nights with good friends, slept like a baby. With school it's a whole different story.

I take a dump.. the mans thinking chair Very Happy!

Ok.. maybe that doesnt relax me.. but it does help me think.. all my best ideas where created on the loo, as well as most of my designs.

Relax.. ERmm.. probably laying in a dark room, some good music and a beer or cup of tea (green or lemon and ginger with honey...)

For me it's watching cartoons or playing a video game. The cartoon has to be be silly like the Simpsons,Family Guy, Futurama, or Spongebob and the game has be one where i get to shoot something. I would love to talk to all those head-up-their-asses politicians who say violent games causes violence. In my case it prevents it.

Guild Wars Smile I actually never have hit anything in anger. I try to control my emotions... no point in letting it all loose. You never achieve anything that way.

@everybody else
I like to go to the gym. Then I like to go swimming for about 1 hr. Hot tub and sauna/steam room for about 40 mins. I sleep really well each night/day I do it.

If you could PM me a list aswell, that would be awesome. Im dont really know any good classical music besides the famous ones.

I usually watch a movie or go to the gym to take my minds of things. Or just turn up the trance and play some Warcraft 3.

I feel your pain my man.

What happens with me is, I end up putting the majority of my thought on trying to get to sleep. Then when I feel myself nodding of I wake straight back up and my mind races and says "HEY I WAS FALLING ASLEEP THERE LOL". Sucks.

Reading really does help. It allows you to focus on what you've just read while you're trying to get to sleep. Keeps your thoughts in check.

I find watching a familiar DVD also helps, but it has to be one i've watched before otherwise my mind gets too active.
