Like the title says, how to burn a AVI with a separate SUB (srt) file?
A colleague at work would like to see "99 Francs" on a DVD player, so I said I look in to it. She don't speak a word of French so...

I know its quite noobish but try convertX, it makes a custom dvd where the srt can be enabled.

Not necessarily ConvertX creates a dvd image which can be played by any dvd player tho there are some quality scaling.

Buy a 25€ DVD/Divx player
Burn a CD/DVD with .avi and .srt file with your favorite burning software
Insert the disk in the player
Select the subtitle and the movie
Enjoy
It is a little effort to invest in a DVD/Divx/Bluray/SVCD/MP3/JPEG etc etc player. You can get them for €25 (dont buy a philips or JVC, just buy a chinese/taiwan import, they are all the same. Mine costed 25 2 years ago and is still working perfectly). Cant get anything easier, burn the movies and just select everything and playback.
If the player really has no .avi support and getting a new one is no option: check www.doom9.org you should find everything you need there.

Cheers guys, ConvertX worked PERFECT!
As I don't have a clue as to what kind of player she has, I rather take the safe route, and burning with ConvertX convert the AVI to proper VOB's + include the subs. Pretty neat prog actually.
