Hi, when it try to install DVD vengence ver. of HL2, it says that there is no steam folder on my PC. Ive made one, nothing happens... so i cant install the game... one thing is that i dont burn it on a dvd, i just unrar and run the install of the game from my HD... anybody can help? Thx in advance... Confused

Install steam first and THEN install hl2.
Use the Setup.exe on the cd and not the hl2.msi which only starts the hl2 install and not both.

But when i run setup.exe i got an error;

16 bit ms-dos subsystem
The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.
Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

So its my PC the problem?

I just installed it a few hours ago...

I installed STEAM first... then went on with HL2 itself... Confused Cool

Just run autorun.exe and it will install fine.

If at first you don't succeed,
Come back with a Gun Smile

Autorun.exe starts Setup.exe so obviously Setup.exe shuld work........
So either you do it all wrong or yes you have a fucked up system Smile

And if you cant use Setup.exe install steam first using Steam.exe (or steam.msi) and then hl2.exe (or hl2.msi) and it shuld work.

You will still have a fucked up system though because Setup.exe SHULD work Wink

Check this by the way and try to solve it.

pallebrun thats what i was gonna suggest as it fixed the exact same prob i had a month ago where every other exe wouldnt work.

will fix your prob Nlight19 if u do it right. Very Happy
