I just checked my 360 that I've been using on LIVE over the last 6 or 7 weeks. I did the connection test and guess what? Console banned!
Oh well, it was a dodgy RROD 360 anyway that I have been bringing back to life from RROD every few weeks so I don't mind letting it go now.
The thing is, it seems that everyone is getting hit. I've got a new elite here that I flashed, but I'm within 2 weeks of purchase so I think that I'll send it back to them for a replacement and say that it's defective. I'm thinking about just getting a replacement 360 and going legit now. I can't be doing with all of the stress of potentially being banned and losing my HDD functionality now. It's too much like hard work.

I very much doubt that it's the test itself that got me banned. Mre than likely it was all of the pirated games that I've played on the console! I'm pretty sure that I must have been flagged before the actual test.

C4Eva is testing a new "lite" version of the firmware for the Lite-On and says no more bans. Well, we'll see about that.

I think so too.
And if people get banned without ever playing a copied game on their flashed box, it surely must mean they can detect fw.
Anything the real C4E has said about the banns?

No doubt. Anybody can be bought. All it takes is one e-mail to him from MS offering him cash to go to their offices for some kind of deal. Trust me, he will sell out if they offer him half a million or something to cease making firmwares.
Nevertheless, this new firmware is good news, I still have not updated to 1.61 now I am glad. I just have to hope I'm still not banned. Right now I don't even know if I am since I have not logged on at all. But I did log in to get the update about a week ago, I might be screwed because of that.

That's nonsense though. I'm in Holland and can request a repair for my banned 360 that was hit during the first wave. It is definetely banned and has been for 3 years or so. I can request a repair and get right up to the payment page where I have to fill in my credit card details.
The only way to really know is to hook it up to live.

No, because people who are banned have managed to get the repair. And even unflashed consoles sometimes shows up with the "Try again later"-error that supposedly are given to the banned ones.

The thing is, the last time I was on Live was during the Wave, bout 5 days ago, it was the first time in 3 months I had been on live, got the new update, and managed to stay on live for at least an hour downloading demo's and theme packs, even browsing the avatar store.
That hour on live was probably more then enough time for MS to catch my system. So I really think I am flagged. I cannot afford to buy a new system right now. So if I get banned I am screwed bigtime, no HD, no Save files, corrupt Profile.
Until I get a new system, I cant afford to get banned right now.
I wish that method worked, the repair service thing, but its useless. Eventually I have to bite the bullet. I will wait until this new Firmware is released. I just have to hope I escaped this wave.
And BTW. Has anyone from ABGX even commented on their MASSIVE fuck up on their data base? I played Madden 10, and now reading what nWo said, its a bad verification on ABGX for Madden 10. Maybe more. WTF!
What are we supposed to use now that ABGX seems to be useless? I'm not using that shit again.

good point, is troubling and I wasn't surprised to hear that there verification thing was going to be botched, hell maybe MS own it now. be the easy strategy. You can now buy a Kreon drive and make your own backups. That is how it should be done anyway I guess.

The problem is that there are people who have been banned using their own rips and others apparently who have never booted a backup. I find the last part hard to be lieve though as I can't see anyone flashing their drive and then not testing it to see if it boots a backup.

But if you are banned already then you'll still probbably lose the HDD install feature after the next update. My launch 360 hadn't been connected to LIVE for 3 years as it was caught in the first ban wave but I lost the HDD install feature 2 weeks ago when I updated the dash on it when I plugged my HDD in from my new 360. If you're console is revoked then they'll get you in the end anyway as some games will not run unless you intall updates which will come on future game discs.
