5/5 means it's a very good game, better than games that score 4/5, but still not flawless.
I understand your logic, but honestly why have scale of 5 if you are never going to use full range of it? Hence 5/5 should mean almost perfect game, but there will always be some room for improvements, no matter what.

SecuROM (Whatever the version number is now.) but with online activation (Disc check as well?) and a date check during installation apparently (Probably encrypted EXE file so nothing can be done until the 9th when it "unlocks".) plus LIVE but that shouldn't be much of a issue unless it's key-locked again. (Which it seems to not be.)
Should go fairly fast with a release once the EXE is available, if it'll work in MP with such a release is uncertain however.
(If it's a launcher EXE live is tied to then it'll work but if it's the main EXE then LIVE won't really work as the file is altered, so far though it's mostly been launchers.)

I guess that the games for windows live shit can be run in offline mode just like Arkham Asylum...Unless Microsoft have made games for windows live more secure since...

Some users here have had issues creating offline accounts in newer games or perhaps with updated versions of LIVE though it should still be doable, can't really remove that functionality albeit it has some other restrictions.
(Mainly MP related and it doesn't tie to your online profile so no achievement updates/uploads and gamerscore tracking, mostly minor things from what I know.)

well...pc games were never easy to configure even if you buy it legaly, you always have the chance of thec problems (as you probably know).
but if you like pc gaming, you are whiling to solve all the problems and to earn your pc gaming:)
me in personal likes to play most of the games on pc and some like tenis and other sports games i play on the wii.
but today even the consoles need more then : insert cd and play , so if it's question of thec probs and you prefer the pc, i guess..go with the pc;)

Because you need something that represents perfection (full score) and something that represents the complete opposite, without those two things you can't give a proper specific score. That's how I see it anyhow, but I'll let go off this discussion now because it's not on topic any more and it's pointless. |
Without wanting to go further off topic, I'd like to point out that the "full points" score generally just means that the game met 100% of the review criteria that the publication uses. That criteria could be extremely difficult to reach -- for example, getting all 6.0s in figure skating is very difficult -- or extremely easy -- Siskel and Ebert's famous "two thumbs up" was easy to get.
And most publications declare these criteria. For example, IGN's criteria for a 10 is: "No game is absolutely perfect, but 10s represent the pinnacle of gaming brilliance. It doesn't get any better than this, and products in this range are virtually flawless. This is like winning the lottery on your birthday. It takes a rare and special game to earn a 10 from IGN," or in the case of Bioshock's 9.1: "If a game scores a 9.0 or better, you know it's a worthwhile experience with just a few imperfections. Games of this caliber are also must-haves, even if you're not particularly fond of the genre."
It's great to have your own idea of how the world should work, but you can't just will it into being that way.
