ur a fail.. thats how we define it.. calling most successive game ever, a failure is really smart yeh ? maybe you dont like mmorpgs.. but thats you..
Oh noes someone insulted WOW. WOW is for fags, all ten or so million fags. Having an opinion is not fail. I honestly have to agree with the guy WOW is a complete and utter joke to ME and you won't catch me dead playing it (to this date I have not).

Blizzard is the best dev studio. At least i dont remember any major fails from them and i love all of their games.
Blizzard isn't that great. If it wasn't for WOW they would be dead right now. I mean only now are we seeing things like SC2 and D3? Now? They take too long kinda like Valve. I don't praise development teams it's a waste of time I praise the games they make.

I think they need to fix up the imbalances and then it will be awesome. Currently Im getting raped by overpowered units even when I have better economy, more units and usually, better micro. Its frustrating.
Currently, PvT is the only thing worth playing. When Zerg are in play, every one gets boned. Roaches are megga, and IMO Zerglings are just too fast when upgraded. Zerg Rush was always powerful, but now its almost unstoppable.
OK so from reading a couple of IRC chans the obvious is apparent:

Crack is in process, but its useless until they can figure out how to unlock the AI.. since the game / BETA doesnt support LAN play, (You must connect to Battle.Net to authenticate) a workaround is needed. Or we gonna have either a game that you can crack and then play against AI that doesnt work or a cracked game that cant play over lan so cant do shit with it. It seems a lot of the cracker types are trying to do it though so fingers crossed.
Hope its out soon, Really want to play against some friends on hamachi
This is also assuming that the fully independent enemy AI is even included within the BETA which I really doubt.
Blizzard are far from stupid, and this BETA is planned well IMO. I really doubt we will see anything like a bnet emu.. but possibly a crack / workaround based on what happens when bnet authenticates.

You assume that if one certain event would be changed that the following chain of events wouldn't, if Blizzard didn't have WoW, we'd probably have SC2 and Diablo 3 out already, so yes they would very much still exist.
Why are we having a discussion about WoW in the Starcraft 2 thread? Take it to the void ffs
Back on topic... Has anyone heard any news about release date of the final game yet?
They said mid-2010.
If I remember correctly, the WarCraft III beta came out around February/March, too, and the full game was released around July. I'd say July-August for StarCraft II.

I'd say it's very possible we see a cracked beta with a skirmish mode. Not so much with online matches.
the Warcraft 3 beta started 14th Febuary and the game was in stores 3rd July.
If i am not totally mistaken.
Anyways who knows. Might be a bit faster this time with their new budget after WoW, Warcraft 3 etc.
from what I noticed browsing the game data files, the AI is stored offline. But the maplist that is needed to host games, even against an AI is stored ONLINE, so we would probably need a bnet emu, at least a simple one, to play against an AI....
Yes, you obviously don't know what the maplist is. It's in most cases actually a file that is hosted server side only and that the game is expecting to load from a server to know what map you have (it doesn't matter whether you have the map offline, because it won't see them)
Without that file (which can be spoofed via a private serve), one's wont be able to host any game, vs a human or vs an AI....

No.
Apparently you can get maps from watching replays. It's somewhat unclear, since the English of those working on it sucks.

Nope, I didn't.
Sucks, then. You'd need to emulate a maplist-getting connection, or somehow work around it, maybe skipping it like the login screen was skipped. But it may be embedded into the game-hosting procedures, so...
How about, if possible, instead of having the game call Battle.net for the maplist, point it to a local address instead of an internet one?
