No luck on reading it, seems to be a different file format. Wont be long until someone codes a program to read the USB stick.
I like bum.

the usb stick that I use is 4GB and when it is done with format on 360, it shows that there is 3,2 GB space left, but when you put the usb stick in the pc, it shows that there is no space left.

$SystemUpdate_9199 is here http://www.sendspace.com/file/5r3ux6
i've seen reports that installing this update on a banned console restores HDD install and other functions that were lost after the last ban wave. anyone else confirm this?
EDIT: yes it's confirmed. both usb and hdd installs are now working on banned xbox.

You can see your files on your USB unit by choosing "show hidden files"
But they doesn't make much sense to a regular joe. Hackers could probably do something with this. Seems to be dummy files that use up all your space :/

The avatar thing is a puzzler if you ask me.
Why would MS release a patch that removes functionality. Thats ultimately what its doing as this patch has zero to do with the avatar.
I've already applied the avatar patch, so this one shouldn't go near it unless it was told to. Generally, you would never design a patch that overwrote older code unless you really wanted to over write it.
Something smells fishy to me.

Should I reflash my 360 drive back to stock fw, before updating? Then flash it back to LT. Also is there a way to update the dashboard without going on line? Like from a disc or usb drive?

here's the update: http://www.sendspace.com/file/5r3ux6
put it on a fat32 formatted usb stick, insert the stick while your 360 is on and the update prompt will pop up.

I'm guessing the avatar thing appears only on consoles that had the update applied offline via used usb stick/cd/dvd, and that's not from the xbox.com site so it's not the actual offline update from Microsoft.

Hmz,
I can't seem to get it to work.
I formatted my USB stick to fat32.
It's 16 gyg, i put the map $systemupdate on the root.
No dice
I got all the files from the map, put them in the root of the USB, no dice.
It doesn't matter wich USB port i use, the update just doesn't pop up.
What am i doing wrong?
*EDIT* i used the avatar update.
*EDIT 2 * Tried the other update posted here also, no dice either.
I must be dumb
*EDIT 3*
Got it to work :
Downloaded the official update from MS fromhere
http://rapidshare.com/files/372747753/April2010-LiveUpdate.rar
Unrarred it on my USB, Installed put it in my 360, turned it on, voila works.
