Heh... to me it seemed kinda opposite in some cases. Like settler going through bunch on foreign territory to found city on other side. Or settling sometimes some pretty unimportant territory.

Still, happiness is always additional factor regarding expansion.

I think it's completely leader dependent. Montezuma for example expands at a huge rate in every game I start. Some other civs just stay as they are, with minimal military force.

If the .exe files have been changed, then it'll need to be cracked.

Yeah, I know that. Let me paraphrase: Does the code within the main .exes change in any way when the new patch is applied which therefore leads to protection problems thus leading to inability to play the cracked version? Laughing

I would assume there's a change, if only to show it's version 1.0.0.20, unless the .exe gets the version number from another file.

This depends on what kind of victory you're trying to achieve. A civics victory is impossible to get if you have a gigantic sprawling empire, because of the 15% penalty increase in civic costs per city. I've actually found that going too big isn't very useful as it was in previous civ games. Although you don't have the issue with corruption, you don't get civics nearly as fast and even science sorta hits a bit of a wall once you reach too big.

That's true. A few civs like Montezuma, Iroquois and a few others are pretty expand happy, on a relative scale. But you still don't have the 20-30 city thing going even on huge pangea maps for agressive AI opponents.

I dunno, in my game i took over most of my continent (2 civs still remain, one has 3 cities, while the other about Cool, but on the other continent France, Greece and someone else have like 50 cities between them. They destroyed all the other civs on their continent so they are quite large. But i'm not playing at the higher difficulties...so i don't know how it goes there...

What does that bug do exactly? You get stuck in peace treaty mode with another civ even after the treaty itself expires? Would that mean all your wars would need to end in annihilation or else the enemy would remain untouchable forever after a ceasefire? Mad

I miss being able to see the other civ's attitude towards you like in Civ IV.. How can you see that in Civ 5?? So far the only way I know of is by their posture towards you when you talk to them.

And on Social Policy.. If I adopt Honor, then Freedom I still get the benefits from Honor also right? As long as it doesnt state that it cannot be active with another policy (like i believe Honor cannot be active with Autocracy?).. Am I reading this right? lol

if you act bad to them, you'll see a "hostile" text in the diplomacy screen Razz

It is. If no one has won by then, it goes down to score. You can still play on afterwards though.

I've had this happen to me on the retail version. Basically I was rampaging across the map killing everyone. America begged me to stop killing them after I took over their capital. I decided to accept the peace agreement since I wanted to concentrate on 2 other more aggressive civs. Once I had them under control, I decided the few American cities had things my empire desired and tried to attack them. However the 10 turn peace agreement kept going on and on and on and I had no option of declaring war on them. I couldnt declare war in the diplomacy screen, and I couldn't attack any of their units/cities which usually allows for the option to go to war.

Eventually I just took over the other capitals to win but it was a bit annoying.

have you ever played this game?
its shit compared to Civ2 ,
in Civ 5 town management is gone , Civ encyclopaedia is cut ... all menus are simplified , its the MOST DERP VERSION ON THE WHOLE SERIES

the only thing they changed compared to Civ 4 was removing the cartoon look that was the civ series take on reality ,making Civ 5 ultra realistic , dark and gritty and adding more advanced scouting Ai for your units

that's it , oh and they simplified the shit out of it

Besides, Civ2 was originally a PC/MacOS game.. it may have been ported to the PS1 later, but it - like the rest in the series - started as PC titles, so how does Hfric preferring Civ2 over Civ5 (and also stating this is more derp than that abomination Civ Revolution) make him a console fanboy?

I just don't get this place sometimes Sad

Well, I don't know if he's a console fanboy or not, but right now he's pretty much talking out of his ass.

I don't see how city management is cut in any way (especially compared to Civ2), how the Civilopedia is "cut" nor how streamlining menus is wrong.

[quote="hehehemann"]Go to your Documents folder and My games. You should see the civ5 folder there. In that you will see UserSettings. Right click on it and edit. Find SkipIntroVideo = 0 and change the '0' to a 1. Exit and save.

See if that helps.

For windowed mode, I am not 100% on this but I think you can also edit the GraphicSettingsDx11 (or Dx9) and change the FullScreen = 1 to a 0.[/quote

Still nothing :\ I'll try to install the new update to see if it solves my problem! Thanks anyway! Smile

Are you kidding me ?! Combat is changed (it's light years better btw, combat in Civ series has always been shit, even in your beloved Civ2), economy is changed ( for the better IMO, in Civ 4 all you had to do was spam cottages, because when you had money, you had everything, now you actually have to ballance money, research and culture, I don't see how this can be called simplified), diplomacy is changed (city states) and interface is changed. Bassically every aspect of the game is changed more or less.

What about the improved combat/end of stacks of doom? Gold to purchase strategic tiles? The end of the previous settler spamming/ city spamming? The harder to manage happiness/gold and building/road maintenance?

I think you are confusing streamlined with simplified.
