The game was 'cracked' by a user on WBB and all SHIELD does is make an installer using others hard work as his own. it "should' work fine, if you dont havea release of f it already.

There is no "Cities XL" anymore. No more patches, DLCs, whatever. Cities XL 2011 will be released soon instead. Impressive, init? Monte Cristo tries to kind of salvage the wreck... Cities XL failed as an MMO game, now MC gives it another shot. I do hope this time it'll feature undergrounds, trains, UK/EU roads etc etc.

Am I doing something wrong? I'm getting %_TAGS on everything.
EDIT: Works fine now. No idea what fixed it.
EDIT2: And now the problem is back.. wtf?
EDIT3: Starting Internet Explorer prior to starting the game seems to fix it. No idea why. Just thought I'd mention it incase others have the same problem.

Will is busy doing awesome stuff (from his wikipedia page) :
- In 1980, along with co-driver and race organizer Rick Doherty, Wright participated in the U.S. Express, a cross-country race that was the successor to The Cannonball Run. Wright and Doherty drove a specially outfitted Mazda RX-7 from Brooklyn, New York to Santa Monica, California in 33:39, winning the illegal race.
- Since 2003, in his spare time, Wright has collected leftovers from the Soviet space program, "including a 100-pound hatch from a space shuttle, a seat from a Soyuz… control panels from the Mir", and the control console of the Soyuz 23, as well as dolls, dice, and fossils.
- He once built competitive robots for BattleBots with his daughter, but no longer does so. Wright was a former Robot Wars champion in the Berkeley-based robotics workshop, the Stupid Fun Club. One of Wright's bots, designed with the help of Wright's daughter Cassidy, "Kitty Puff Puff", fought against its opponents by sticking a roll of gauze onto its armature and circling around them, encapsulating them and denying them movement. The technique, "cocooning", was eventually banned.
- Also he received the first "GAMER GOD" award in 2009.
- Following his work in BattleBots, he has taken steps into the field of human-robot interactions. "We build these robots and we take them down to Berkeley and study the interactions that people have with the robots," says Wright. "We built this newer one that has a rapid-fire pingpong cannon. It will fire about 10 per second. So we give people this plastic bat and we say, 'It's set up to play baseball. Do you want to play baseball? It's going to shoot a little ball and you try to hit it.' And all of a sudden it's like da-da-da-da, and it's pelting them with balls.
- Wright will appear as a character in the video game the Mr. T, where he will team up with Mr. T to fight Nazis.

Yeah right; if someone throws cash at him, he'll just make a lowest common denominator crap like Spore. Just to remind, initially Spore was supposed to be something really unique and special. But hey, derp users are derp - it was delayed for mainstreaming for accessibility and you got what Spore became. Really, there is no reason to think he would have done anything different with SC5. I wouldn't be surprised if SimCity Societies wasn't his favorite. Once a sellout, always a sellout.

Once a sellout, always a sellout. | Errr...that complex and interesting early stage of Spore's development clearly shows that WW wanted the game to be just that: complex and interesting. They even posted some really interesting techdemos on the game site a while back that featured full fledged particle-gravity phisics simulations for solar-system modelling, complex ecosystem-sims for the creature phase, etc. Then EAxis came in and mainstream'd it.
No wonder he left that sorry bunch.
That said, we still never gonna see a decent new installment in the SC series, and these new attempts are pathectic at best in comparison. If they ever gonna make a new SC game, all we can look forward to is another Societies cashin.

To fix the text $in front of everithing:
-In launcher change the language to French.
-Start the game.
-Quit.
-Change back to English.
-Run the game.
That should fix the missing text.

Actually check out the Spore thread. He was the one in charge of the mainstreaming. He also left so he could create more of these amazing mainstream products for EA.

Well, I am craving for a good city builder, but I doubt they'll fix all the underlining problems Cities XL had. But lets have a release and see.
