Some rumors have surfaced about the new Call of Duty game, thought I might collect it in this thread until we have some solid info.

thisisxbox.com wrote:

A source within the industry who has previously leaked other information when I was writing for Xboxic (leaks include confirming Black Op's March 2010, Naming Kinect before E3 May 2010, First Gears 3 Images April 2010, amongst others) has informed me that an upcoming Call of Duty title from Infinity Ward will not be created on an all new game engine, and will not be released this year under the title of Modern Warfare 3!
It has been alleged that Infinity Ward are creating a game that will focus on the character Ghost who first appeared in Modern Warfare 2, this game will centre around the events leading up to the war in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare as a prequel, and then further reveal how Ghost first became a member of Task Force 141 based on the comic book stories written by David Lapham. In various parts of the game that will focus on the life of Ghost - players will revisit locations from both Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2, but this time from a different viewpoint.
Although entirely a rumour - the game is meant to be in development on the Modern Warfare 2 engine. Robert Bowling (Infinity Ward's Community Manager) was contacted, but has neither confirmed or denied the rumours.
When an official announcement from both Activision and Infinity Ward is made regarding the Call of Duty title currently in development - we'll be sure to post it.

A rumor that Raven Software is developing an upcoming game in the Call of Duty series is reported on Kotaku, where they attribute this to a "source close" to the Activision-owned studio. This harkens back to a rumor that a third developer was involved with the series from last November, well before the Infinity Ward implosion and the announcement of Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops. This same report also says that Raven's other projects, a James Bond game and an X-Men game, are each now on hold, referring to Singularity as "complete." Thanks nin.

bluesnews.com wrote:
A help wanted ad from Raven Software for a Lead FX Artist adds further credence to the rumor that the Activision-owned studio is working on a Call of Duty game. Word is: "Raven Software, developer of numerous award-winning games, including X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Wolfenstein and Singularity, is seeking a lead visual effects artist to drive the development of stunning visual effects for an established console-based, realistic, first-person military shooter." Thanks MCV, where they note that the Call of Duty series is Activision's only series that fits that description.

Raven? Oh well, at least they can't be as bad as Treyarch. I bought Black Ops and I wish I hadn't, I have never encountered a game that stuttered and froze as much as this in all my life. Fucking Crysis, on maxium settings, never stuttered and froze as much as this.

I shouldn't have to mate, not when COD4/MW2 look exactly the same (if not better in places) and run 92fps locked and never, ever stutter or freeze. Something is broken in the game and it's not just me.

*shrugs*

I'll just keep playing MW2 until Treyarch remember that they have customers OUTSIDE the fucking Derpbox.

BUT, for the framerate Crysis achieved it ran damn smooth. At 24fps kinda like a 24p Movie.

You're actually not wrong. Crysis may have had a shitty framerate, but it was smooth enough. Oh well, let's see what Raven can deliver shall we? I must admit.... I'm one of the few that thoroughly enjoyed Singularity Very Happy

Did you try tweaking it mate?

Still I found black ops to be a huge improvement compared to MW2, Treyarch, bad devs as they may be actually listened to the community during development, instead of Infinity Ward which derped everything to the max - remember PC specific features such as mouse look? Laughing and dont get me started on IWnet which was as retarded as it's single player campaign.

Yup, I tweaked the shit out of it Sad Now the game looks like it was drawn by a 10 year old... and at first it was fine. Ugly, but fine. Then halfway through the round it started stuttering again whenever someone shot me or I shot them, completely freezing when explosions went off or any kind of message appeared on screen (like passing a challenge). It's infuriating and utterly unplayable.

Hmm did you try to prioritize steam according to those instructions I gave? It seems odd to say at least, sounds like something is overheating, hows your temps?

My temps are fine, card never goes above 54 and processor is the same - mid 50s. I set Steam and BO to run in LP mode and it still doesn't work.

That current Call Of Duty stutters like hell for me too. Just randomly between smooth seconds. Even in the menu.
I was pretty sure that it's kinda normal for this game for a lot of people (not saying the majority or anything)

It plays fine for me sabin, too bad you get the stutters too. :/ It might be because I upgraded recently, but then again, Fermi users were supposed to have stutters, but I didn't have any even before the patch Confused

BO puts a CPU limit on itself, that's why it stutters. They shouldn't have stuck with IW 3.0 and tried to hack new features in without having the source code Razz

As far as I'm concerned though, I hope Raven finds some of the glory they had when they did Jedi Outcast and Academy, or even Hexen/Heretic. Quake 4, Wolfenstein and Singularity were all bland shooters; Q4 is a disgrace to the Quake name, Wolfenstein was just not up to par with RTCW and Singularity did not have any atmosphere for me. The latter two weren't bad games, just not as good as I hoped they would be (Quake 4 was fucking terrible though).
