nzd though, so its probably about 130 usd i think... and yeah i know, i could buy like 3 games for that price easily, but witcher 2 is worth about 10 current-day games, so i still come out on top

Yeah, unfortunately there aren't many promising RPGs in the next months (DA2 looks rather meh so far and Arcania's expansion..well it will be a joke like the main game )

Shut up cuntnatan! Cuntsilon was right to ban me!

btw, the first line of this post is sarcasm too.. no hate <3
@Dragon Age 2:
Never played the first one, but the graphics on this game look HORRIBLE! The animations, cutscenes and the characters too. Looks like a very cheap hack & slay. Why does Mass Effect look 10 times better than this?
Regarding the gameplay: It's obvious that it's not finished and the guy playing it MUST be doing so on the easiest setting.

I looked up how much DLC this game has and holy hell. It's 21 total!
This crap is getting outta hand. Most of it is even item crap.
Only the extra team mate and black emporium are even remotely interesting. It was to be expected cause all DA:O DLC was shit exept Shale.

Apples and Oranges. This argument gets brought up over and over. It's the same reason Metal Gear Solid looks worlds better than Oblivion - different resource requirements. For the TYPE of game Dragon Age is, theres no way you're going to be pushing top of the lines graphics (and realistically there is no reason to).

Quote: | February 22, 2011 marks the launch of the Dragon Age II Demo and a Call to Arms for all BioWare fans. We are actively recruiting an army of Champions, and if we get over 1 million demo downloads and logins on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 combined before March 1st, we will unlock two in-game items for the entire community to use in Dragon Age II. Demo download progress will be tracked on this page, so check back often! |
Amazing! The number of times the demo will be downloaded unlocks DLC in the full game... EA is truly the industry's innovation leader

shit me that sounds fucking stupid.
if the items are GOOD, why lock them up? if the items are overpowered badass ones, then who wants that to ruin their game? if the items are meh and will be replaced by the player in the first couple of levels, then why bother.
no.. if ur gonna do something like THAT, bioware should go large.. like, say, the first dlc based new quest (doesnt have to be a big one) that they were going to sell for 2 bucks, would become FREE if they hit a million downloads.
but this unlocking items that are ALL READY IN THE FUCKING GAME if enough DEMOS are fucking download, is just weak, bioware. really really weak.

After watching the videos, apart from the 1st one where the Dwarf is deliberately exaggerating Hawk's power, its almost the same play style as DA O, at least combat wise.
The dev's have said that the demos tended to showcase the easy difficulty setting, or story mode, where the player has it easy, i hope that the higher ones provide more demanding gameplay.
Regarding the graphics, i like the new armor models, but the scenery left a lot to be desired, very drab, brown colors. The screenshots from the technical post on the bioware blog, look more varied.

There is more, says Mr. Priestly:

You do not only have to download the shitty demo, you have to suffer through it completely to get... wow... another item.

According to a post by Priestly on the official forums, that demo in the vids isn't the actual "official" demo coming out on the 22nd, but a copy of the older demo they were showing back at the various game expos last year. Sounds like a load of PR horse shit to me - I suspect the public demo (and the retail game) to be identical.

Apparently I got misunderstood. I am worried I might like the game like I did DA:O. Still, I will play DA2, and as the only thing I have seen right now are sreenshots and a few vids, it is too early for me to already pass jugdment on DA2.
What I do not want is to have to play through some demo beforehand just for a single item. What do they want to achiceve with rewarding people playing through it? Are they not that conviced enough by their demo?

ask EA .
but hey if they think that their demo can get a million downloads then they probably have confidence in their product regardless of awarded items or not

Never used the tactics menu in DA:O, I prefered to pause and think and then give orders to the characters manually. While pausing the action might seem annoying, giving the right set of orders to individual characters was the only way to survive at higher difficulties.
Not to mention extremely gratifying and rewarding.

That was dumb. Dragon Age II is not. |
Dont know how someone can die playing on 'Casual' and say "I'd configured no tactics" as an excuse, even if the game is not dumbed down and it's the same as DA:O... you don't need them. |
The guy who wrote that article, is a complete dumbass. We, older gamers, have every reason to worry. Just because he failed at Casual, does not mean the game is hard, it means he's pretty stupid.
My fav part though:
"Two days ago, after watching some fast combat in Dragon Age II, I found myself staring at a menu screen in Dragon Age II. What I saw was not simple and certainly not over-simplified. What I saw was something that might stress a Mass Effect player, that might sail over their head."
While the statement regarding ME players is true I think DA2 is oversimplified. Although, its's true, that they have almost the same number of activable abilities, very very many of them are now passive or upgrades. All in all, than means considerably less buttons for derps to understand.
The other problem is, they hype the skill trees as actually being superior, but anyone with two brain cells can understand it is more limiting, than the system we had before
Each category had 3 or mostly 4 lines in them in DA1. In DA2 we have a tree, an in the best case I have seen, each level of the has twice as many skills on it as the last level. That equates to having less of a choice - as in, you don't have as many combinations of taking skills within a category, as you had in DA1.
All in all, it IS dumbed down. Thank you, moron gamers. Thank you illiterates ... etc...
