Well Skyrim has been slimmed down a bit, theres only fire and ice attacks in spells now. No custom spell making, something that has been a trademark of the series from the very start with Arena.
Dungeons get level locked to the level you are when you first enter them, ie the game scales to your level like Oblivion did.
Theres no attributes anymore, you just get feats every level like in Fallout 3.
Considering how awesome Dragon Age 2 is, even when it got slimmed down further from how it was with Dragon Age. I do believe that we're looking at Skyrim as another fantastic rpg for rpg lovers that don't like rpgs.
Spell creation hasn't been talked about by the devs much. It may not be in the game in exactly the same way but I'd bet there are still plenty of ways to create custom spells.
I've seen more than "only fire and ice" mentioned for spells.
Of course there are still attributes. Just because they haven't talked about them doesn't mean they are gone.
The game doesn't scale like Oblivion did (which would SUCK). It scales like Fallout. It's still scaling and I'm not happy with it but at least it's not as shitty as Oblivion's system was.
The game is still eight months away. They have given out next to nothing as far as specifics. Just little tidbits here and there. Maybe you should wait until some concrete data is out before crying about it.
I don't think it'll be anywhere near what was done from DA:O to DA2.

The information I posted came from gaming magazines, I didn't make it up.
Fire and ice were mentioned as the only damage dealing spells.
Cry about it? no I really don't care until about a year after release, where mods that fixes the most annoying issues will likely have been released.
What I am crying about though, is the streamlining and dumbing down thats happening in gaming and specifically in the rpg genre, a fact that annoys and aggrevates me to no end.
The dumbass look on the DA2 elf's face sums up the game perfectly.
I really hope we're able to fulfill his old assassins groups contract and use that as a reason to kill him.
not because he was once an assassin that made you look over your shoulder turned grey warden and fought by my side now turned into a manwhore...

No I will simply not play the game. Then I will ban you for trolling and this time I will not let you back in again.
Anyway, roll on the release, looking really forward to this even more, more so, now that the 'usual suspects' have chimed in and said their 'usual' shit about a game that ain't even out yet
I like nfohumper, and humpers. So I'll be on my best behavior not too get banned again .
On topic tho, I downloaded this on PS3, been playing for a few hours, the load times are ridiculous if you ask me, and the control scheme is horrible, very clunky. And the game seem to lack the effort/soul put into the first game. Feels bland.
I am really really disappointed, I with Epsilon on this one I'm aggravated to no end with current gen of rpgs.. I hated having my hand held as a child, and I hate it in my games. And yeah, i'm crying a river here.
The game is quite good though i don't know if it's as good as the first one. There's no epic feeling to it although gameplay wise its still brilliant even with the ugly UI.
It doesn't feel epic cause you aren't a gray warden and you aren't on a quest to save the world but instead go around trying to save your family and make more money. Most of the time you'll be doing quests so you can move up the word in terms of social and wealth status. Origin's end is also much better than this one.
The thing i missed the most was the arcane warrior specialization. The closest you can get to that is with the Staff of Parthalan weapon but you must have registered to Bioware's newsletter to get that.
The graphics seem outdated even though they actually aren't - I can't figure out how they screwed that up. The world also seems a lot smaller and you'll be basically moving around one city from start to finish and that's it. In terms of UI its definitely more console friendly what with the while circle-chosing thing. I'm hoping the pc version;s graphics are epic enough to compensate for all of this.
Anyway took me ~15 hours doing little to no side quests but some companion quests.
That matches the German review summary that was posted awhile back, they also thought the game didn't feel epic and it only took them around 15 hours. I hope there are enough side quests to increase that playtime...
15 hours for the main story D: Oh well, I guess if you take it slow and do all side quests etc. it will be longer most likely. I don't really know how to feel about DA 2. I loved the demo it feels epic, but then again, some aspects of the game feel lame. I am sceptical about running around Kirkwall all the time and not a lot of other locations.
The most retarded part is you travel ALL the time from one place of the city to another and on the PS3 you have to wait around 20 sec to get there. A lot of the time you'll just be traveling from one end of the city to another to talk to someone and then you'll have to travel to somewhere else and wait at the loading screen again and this becomes quite tiring.
You can travel to the same locations within the city but you can chose whether in daytime or nighttime since some missions can only be completed during night time. Don't know why they decided this would change anything at all...
The first ~1h there's more talk than fight.
I wouldn't usually say that a 20 sec loading time is that much but when you have to go through it every 2 min or less it becomes a pain. Now maybe this is just because i'm playing a pirated version on my external HDD but i've heard people all over saying its the same for them. Hoping a high end PC will not have to endure the same loading times.
The funny part is the loading times are still ~20sec even if your just entering a very small room to pick up document and then you have to get out and wait another 20 sec.
Also, the sex scenes are much shorter and there is absolutely no nudity - at least thats how it was for me . The characters just kiss on top of each other on the bed fully dressed and that's all you get to see. Not that it matters.
