I loved the comment of the LEAD designer (Mike *The Derp* Laidlaw) that said :
"I think we would have seen just as much negativity if we just, as I used to joke, stapled two Archdemons together and called it a super blight.".
Because funnily enough during final 2 boss battles :
Spoiler: | They staple bloodmages together instead . |

Am I the only one with random ~1minutes freeze (ctrl+alt+del not responding) then at some point it comes back with a "connection to server lost" message in dragon age in-game events?

You can block DA2 exe in Windows Firewall and it's solved, iirc

Just finished it. Pretty good game. Not a good RPG though.
Just like I never called Mass Effect an RPG but an interactive space opera.
However, complaining here will accomplish very little. If you like the genre, take your hate for DA2 to BioWare's forums. DA2 was mainly the product of BioWare listening to their most vocal userbase - I'm not kidding.
The major complaints were "fighting is boring", "game is too hard" (yes. there were people playing on casual causing ruckus on the forums because they couldn't make it past the fucking tower-ogre) and "protagonist isn't voiced" (which has a lot more effects than whether you hear the protagonist speak or not obviously) up until DA2 was released. So, yeah. They are to blame for giving in to their customers and giving up parts of their initial artistic vision in the process, but BioWare surely isn't the evil the past 152 pages made it out to be. Y'all need to play some CounterStrike or something, I don't want you to get heart attacks over this silly shit.
Also, so I don't sound like a fanboy...
Spoiler: | What if you killed Leliana in the Leliana's Song DLC? And what if you killed Zevran? I bet my ass you meet them anyway in DA2. In which case, fuck you, BioWare. Neckbeards like my fine self like continuity and your whole "YALL CAN IMPORT SAVEGAMES THATS SO BIOWARE OF US" concept is for the dogs if not to be taken seriously. |

So, as a mage, you can't get spells like "teleport" and "impenetrable shield" like some NPC mages in the game has?
Well... add that to the silly-list.

Found it pretty horrible myself. Sort of played like a MMORPG, following the quest compass from one area to the other.
Pretty much everything is scripted, which is lazy/bad design, tons of inconsistencies( enemies appear out of nowhere, rogues and enemy mages can seemingly teleport even though a book about magic in the game says teleportation isn't possible, etc.), completely railroaded areas, excessive copy-paste dungeons, mostly uninteresting characters, lack of strategic camera, boring MMO-style character development, excessive filler-combat, annoying dialog where it's impossible to predict what your character will say, no cool or non-combat spells, no interesting quests, uninspired story, most stuff is scaled to your level, no XP advantage from using less party members, etc., etc.
Nah, huge disappointment. No single aspect of the game is above average, and way too many are poor. I was hugely disappointed with Origins too, but this is several steps down even from that. We'll be looking a long time for a proper BG2 successor.

It started out OK but I'm near the end of ACT I (I think?) and I'm starting to get a little bored. The whole repetitive use of the same areas (mentioned many times here already) is annoying. And I don't like how they handled the difficulty. Make the fights more difficult. But don't make them difficult and then when you get a huge group down to 1-2 left you dump a whole new group on me. And then do it fucking a third time. That goes from trying to make it more difficult to making it more annoying and forcing me to run halfway to the other side of the level trying to even the odds a little. Pain in the ass at times.

Lol yeah. I remember after Origins came out Gaider posting about how it was impossible in their universe. And lo and behold now in DA2 it's a feature that Laidlaw is actively promoting (along with all the retarded rogue super-ninja moves).

Dunno if it's been posted.

"There's been a few minor [bugs] and a few technical hiccups on PC. The two biggies that I'm aware of - that we're looking at aggressively right now - are on PC there seems to be some compatibility issues with DirectX 11," said Laidlaw.
"What I would say there is if you fire up the game and and it's running particularly slow or stuttery, move the renderer in visual options down to DirectX 9 for now. We're working with NVIDIA/AMD to make sure patches are coming out, because some if it is actually in the driver compatibility. We'll make sure that's rectified and resolved. |

Looking at the list of all the DLC items so far and it seems the Antivan Garotte and the The Ring of Whispers are a few of the missing items.

I don't know if your random freezes were like mine but the fix right now if your running Windows 7 64 is to configure the game to use DX9 rather then 11. Just tested this tonight and now my gameplay is completely smooth. I did not see the actual dev post but read somewhere that Bioware is aware of the problem and is finalizing a patch.

alright, so I was actually compelled to play the game again, but this time as a rogue.
sided with the templars... and the ending played out pretty much the same aswell as the epilogue narrative video, so I suspect bioware to have only made one epilogue video and they just play it no matter what you do in the end.
Spoiler: | exemple : they're saying how the mages loved me since I rebelled vs the templars and all, but I sided with the templars and even killed anders on my playthrough... and the thing with Isabella saying that she stayed with me even though nothing in my playthrough hinted to a romance... |

so how do u fix it |
1. Enable the console and type in "runscript zz_isa_debug", which starts a dialogue.
2. Choose "Plot".
3. Choose "No Rest for the Wicked - Act 3".
4. Choose "Jump to Plot Point".
5. Choose "Quest Start".
Or possibly one of the other options for step 5.

Spoiler: | I don't know about Leliana, but I had Zevran killed in my DA:O save and I did not encounter him at all. Didn't even know he was in the game before replaying it with a default 'save' that they let you pick. |

A bit late to the party, but one comment is necessary: why does the game hold your hand all the fucking time ? In today games i feel like i can't "lose" anymore. Even the double armor requirements based on class are there so that DERPS can't fuck up their builds. If I want to make a shitty and useless warrior just for fun or I want to experiment with some builds there's very little choice.
Only thing I save for now is the party banter...

Yes, attributes are almost completely useless in this game - I mean spending them. I mean, why give the choice of spending attributes, if there is only basically one way of spending them "right" - unless you want to gimp yourself. In a good RPG, even warriors have use of intelligence, and wizards of strength ... if you want to build them that way. Here, there is no variety of how to build your characters, none.
Utter rubbish for an RPG. Don't even get me started on how few activable abilities you get (too few), and the fact, that the abilities, that have upgrades, are usually shit without them - so you don't really have a choice in how to build your characters, it's a pretty clear path.
I read an article back in 2008 I think, or maybe 2009? Fuck knows, anyway, I read the article about how BioWare apporaches the design philosophy of their MMO, and the speaker shared with the audience, that according to him, people get confused by choices. They say they want them, but in reality, they only want the illusion of choice. He also said people can make the best decision, if they only have two options to select from.
A few years later, what do we have? Simplified combat in all their games and even more simplified conversations. Basically, there are three things tops, that you can say in a conversation. They even made a symbol for the derps, because they were confused, if they read the lines (as it was in past RPGs), they wouldn't be able to be sure on its effect.... jesus...
BioWare has truly little faith in gamers. You know what's worse? Maybe they're right. Maybe the derp masses really can't handle choices.

My party is lvl15, my main character has 9 active abilities/skills, Varric has 12. Add ~7-8 passive ones to that per party member. How is that not enough? Much is nerfed in this game, the skill system is hardly one of those imo. Of course there will be prime attributes for every class to spend points on. How is that abnormal? I have a two-hander build with points 'wasted' in dexterity. It's perfectly possible to deviate from teh straigth path (i.e. str/con). "I want to build a gimped warrior class when I'm bored but the items do not let me" is a weird statement. If you want to build a gimped warrior with 10 strength and 10 constitution, go all the way and don't use any high-class equipment.
