We asked Sion about that decision to move even further away from the series roots with the follow-up: “We want to steer away from the idea that it’s a simulation; we’ve banned the word in the studio. Authentic is fine, as it gives you some leeway to be creative, and that’s what we are. We’re creative, we’re making an entertainment product, and it should be fun. I don’t really get much fun out of military simulations. They’re immersive, they’re realistic, but I wouldn’t call them fun.
What a tbh, maybe they shouldn't have stole the name off BI then.
Wow. The squad AI is so awful. They kept getting themselves killed in the second defend mission because, no matter what I told them to do, they insisted on standing out in the open and getting shot. A bunch.

Well, that would make sense if they stole *anything* from Bohemia. Bohemia licensed the GAME to Codemasters. The trademarked NAME belonged to Codemasters and not Bohemia.
They fucked up trying to claim OFP:DR was a "sim" and admitted that which is why they tried to get away from the word "sim" this time around. Clearly, the game isn't designed for someone like you. Jesus Christ there are a bunch of fucking crybabies here that whine about every little thing. It's getting hard to pick useful information out of these forums anymore.
And, for the record, I'm not defending DR or this new game either. This one is clunky as shit just like DR was.
Heh, well I'm sure there's a difficulty level also, somewhere.
(Not that the AI seems that advanced based on these other posts in this thread.)
Ten missions based on the videos available, easy to get rid of those logos as well, all of them seems to be in the same style as the intro so a bit semi-offensive to some individuals perhaps?
By far the dumbest most immature idiotic dialogue in a game I have ever come across.
The very reason I uninstalled it. That black guy said fuck in the intro more times than Grayson during the whole Bulletstorm. It's just making my ears bleed.
Game looks like ass. A hairy, fat chick ass. The only thing that it has going are the anamorphic lens flares and those are uverused.
Dumb teammate AI.
Even dumber enemy dialogue. I was hugging a wall and on the other side there was a...whatever those enemies were and he said something, it sounded like they paid their Iranian neighbor a few bucks and put a microphone on a table in an empty kitchen to record.
seriously it is sad...people are waiting for product with fine history and getting crap right in the face:(
insted of going forward, some developers going backward and situations like this makes piracy stronger cause imagine you pre order it...
Jeez, who wrote that script?? The Squadleader is a stereotypical black guy wannabe gangster hardass, him talking alone all the time is soooo annoying. And whats up with the "Broisms" throughout? Only played 30 mins, but thats the first thing that pissed me off.

Yeah, once you see the intro, you understand what the game's about. I couldn't even play because of how retarded everything was, after about 5 minutes in the actuall game it was: "I fucking quit!".
I agree with everyone here, I've just completed the first two missions and the game is much worse than expected (not that I was expecting a good game ).
Gameplay-wise is very linear, there are no tactics involved except for the usual advance->shoot at everything that moves, the controls feel weird (low fov+annoying mouse acceleration) and the AI is definitely stupid. Not to mention the bad graphics, especially the textures, which come directly from the PS2 era and are stuffed by an exaggerate amount of Nextgen™ bloom.

Patch details, already have it somehow (Patch1 folder in the game, had it pre-ordered, I really should keep better track of what I order now and then.) but it would likely need a new crack unless it's included in Reloaded's release as well.
(Unsure if they took the retail version or the download version, if it's the previous clone release they used as a source it's likely unpatched.)
EDIT: Direct changelog.

I guess they mean some of the mechanics (Which I find doubtful, there isn't that much available compared to say ArmA - which might be a bit extreme comparison perhaps.), or maybe they do see it as original = Advanced Warfighter. (3rd person action game console edition.)
A couple of screens at high settings (except for the AA off):
@tonizito: the usual game journos, nothing less nothing more
The most irritating thing in this game is the teammates AI, which is totally unresponsive and the soldiers are frequently bad positioned. If you add that the tactical elements are almost nonexistent (DR was better from this point of view), we can safely label this game as FAiL.
I don't know what Codemasters was thinking with this hybrid, but Red River will be probably hated by both the CoD fans and ArmA fans equally.
Most irritating thing is the dialogue. Period. Teammates' AI can be jumped over but not the compilation of words the black sergeant throws out every time a mission starts off or ends. Fucking piece of shit writers.
While the AI is certainly improved from Dragon Rising, you'll still need to pay close attention not to direct teammates into dangerous situations as they'll follow orders without question and often pay the ultimate price for it. The removal of tight time limits removes much of the irritation of the first game but even so, players approaching Red River as a tactical shooter couched in an engaging story will get the most from it.
At its best, Red River surpasses Ubisoft's original Ghost Recons for squad-based tactical play. But it's the presentation of the story – not the broad-canvas story, but the story of four marines and their staff sergeant – that marks it out as something new. We still may be some way from the bite and nuance of Generation Kill, but in communicating the camaraderie, banter, fear and glory of modern warfare in the Middle East, nothing can touch this.
8/10... are you fucking kidding me? They did review the Xbox 360 version though.
* Edit* Beaten to it, but still, it beggars belief.
