depends on how well the system is implemented though, thats why im asking... but if there zero slow-down and no adverse affects over constant quicksaving, then thats a fantastic edition.

Just did a quick test. Loaded a Chapter 3 save from my second playthrough (on game version 1.0). Making a new save didn't result in any noticeable extra pause or hiccup. Looking at file sizes, the original v1.0 saves from that point were in the 8-12MB range. The new one was 429KB.

because cdp could easily have taken something that works great, and fucked it up just for giggles... like they did with their inventory system
just because something SHOULD work fine, doesnt mean it WILL work fine.. kinda like their forums

Maybe you have swordsman talent that adds 50-100% damage you do to selected target to other targets.

of course i do
which is why i dont understand the 1.2 'update'
does it mean that talent is removed/useless now? or does it mean that whirl now becomes purely a damage multiplier? either way i think its a bit of a pity - i liked the system exactly how it was, where you only get the more advanced sword moves if you unlock them in the sword tree.
but i guess its a balancing issue to make the combat easier in the beginning?

I for one is a bit pissed that some decent looking games are only on consoles, like Alan Wake, Red Dead Redemption, L.A Noire etc etc, I wish to play them on the pc but I can't thanks to ghey publishers and/or developers.
So I'm actually happy when we get exclusives as well, if we got those games and others on PC then I could care less. Not hating CDPR though but I do think the UI and some control elements are a bit consolified.

Having some trouble finishing a side quest in chapter 3
Spoiler: | i'm at chapter 3 just before i fight the dragon, but i'd like to finish the gargoyle contract before but can't seem to get to the last room. Did a bit of digging and found the location of the room which is on the left of the gate as you enter loc muine. Thing is, the camp is hostile and seems to be spawning an endless horde of guards. Do i have so side with roche to finish this quest? |

Installed patch 1.2 which aparently screwed a bit my game. Performance wise it's kinda the same as 1.1 but this time it seems there's a noticeable delay in texture loading.
So, practically, if I turn my mouse around into a 120 degree fast, there is a minor stuttering and I can see textures (walls, objects) as they load AFTER me turning around. It happens every time and all the time...
Perhaps I praised the game far too much. Anyway, it's very annoying.

Seems really wierd. I have better performance with this patch, while others have even worse performance than with 1.1, with which I had pretty much the same performance as with 1.0.

No, you just have to go around it, and enter the left door with your back at the entrance in loc muinne.
As for the cumulative patch, I don't think so, the site says 1.1 is needed.

Same, a small performance improvement, had 0 with 1.1.

Well, don't i feel stupid, it did not occur to me to backtrack. For some reason i got it into my head that the hostile camp with the respawning guards was the entrance to loc muinne. Anyways, found the room, got the sword and finished the game, kind of an anticlimactic ending though. thanks for the help Prismvg.

I restarted the game and the issues I mentioned about didn't manifest itself. Although, there seems to be bit much more loading around now, with 1.2.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to reinstall the game and update it directly with patch 1.2 on a clean install.
abija wrote: | Did you make you sure you have same settings? For me the patch did again a reset and detect. |
It's weird, as while I checked the settings, they were lowered a bit, as in Texture Memory Size set to "Large" and LOD distance set to "Normal". I switched back to what I used before ("Very Large" texture mem. size and "Far" LOD), and things improved. Heh.
Anyway, this 1.2 patch should be the most we get performance wise for some time. Next it would be up to nVidia to improve a bit more things with their next driver (already officially announced as bringing optimizations for TW2). No idea about ATI, though.

What are those islamic themed textures anyway (And what replaced them?), I don't remember anything like that.
(Was there perhaps some picture like that flame looking symbol I've seen now and then or some such for decoration?)
