It's not that bad, worth trying just for the interactivity 7.5 or 8/10
graphics are alright, some textures aren't right and sometimes bloom is just ridiculous, but it's not as bad as people make it out to be.
7.5 or 8 means no worth buying unless you're a real fan of the series

I think I had more fun in the level where I had to find 3 items for a stripper than any part that came before it =/. I was actually sad to see the game go back to shooting stuff since it just feels so boring.
Exploring the level was actually nice and more interesting than depleting the same guns, picking more ammos on the ground, and looking at badly designed levels.
It's not a BAD game and is at least quite different from anything else on the market. But it feels like they could have done so much better and I'm quite honestly surprised they haven't. I mean the people in charge have experience with that kind of game, they should be able to make more interesting guns and more interesting enemies to fight.
And I know this has been beaten to death, but 2 guns? Really?
Let us keep as many guns as we like and drastically reduce the amount of ammo dropped. That alone would make combat more interesting as we'd change guns much more often and would have to think about which ones we can afford to lose ammo for.
Seriously, the way it's designed is so stupid.
I'm surprised how the parts that I find the most boring are the parts where this game should shine.

I'll probably drop a game for a few days, to see if anyone will crackfix razor issues (chapter select and stuff).

Have you seen dopefish in the underwater levels yet?
I got to the monster truck portion of the game yesterday, and i've enjoyed every level set so far. The duke burger portion where you are tiny and have to save the lady from the electrified water is probably my favorite thus far.

I have not though looking over the checkpoint/chapter data I've missed at least one or two ego boost items per level so there's more to explore than I first thought (Found a lot of these hidden ammo and weapon crates in various rooms and hidden paths though.), only seen about four or so more direct references to things like that.
(Power-armor, Isaac's helmet, Valve Puzzle Comment, Gears comment and now this and likely some other things, plus the smaller references and comments like the earlier image with Duke shouting "America, Fuck Yeah!".)

I'm definatly going to do another playthrough on the insane difficulty. I'm playing on Hard right now and it's definatly really hard at certain portions.
I'm just curious if 3DRealms was generous enough to include dopefish in a game after not really seeing dopefish since MaxPayne.

I've got a dual core 2.4ghz and a 4870, and i'm playing at 1920x1080 with everything except AA and Vertical Sync. Butter smoother. All the time.
This game really isn't demanding at all.
Fun as fuck though.

From the timeline:
November, 2009: Single-player work on Duke Nukem Forever content is complete.
January, 2010: Triptych Games locks down their single-player version of the game and begins negotiations with Gearbox Software.
February, 2010: Triptych relocates to Gearbox"s offices in the Plano, Texas Bank of America Tower and resumes work alongside Gearbox and Piranha to help port Duke Nukem Forever to consoles, add multiplayer, and polish features within the game.
So basically we waited 1.5 year for the console ports and multiplayer.

I don't have performance issues either. I get a mild stutter whenever there is a checkpoint save, but other then that the game runs great. My system isn't exactly high-spec anymore either. E8400, 4GB, GTX470.
The crack is obviously the culprit.
BTW, just did the second battlelord encounter. On hard it was definatly fucking hard. I'm also trying to get the pistol achievement by never letting go of it through the entire game, so it's definatly making things tougher. I can't even imagine how difficult some of the bosses might be on insane mode.

Strange...the 2006 casino looks better than the 2011 version.

The only Dopefish reference in the game is in the credits, an ex-3DR and current Gearbox employee who is listed as Joe "Dopefish" Siegler.

It's a shame they didn't release the game near that 2003/2004 timeframe. Really looks good. I don't mind the game we have now, but it is obvious they had more money and a bigger development team back in the early 2000's.

Not really, the team was always very small. http://www.wired.com/magazine/2009/12/fail_duke_nukem/3/
Quote: | The long grind began to wear on the staff. The Duke Nukem Forever team was unusually small; by 2003, only 18 people were working on it full time. This might have been adequate back when the game was announced in the mid-’90s. But in the years that Broussard had spent tweaking Duke Nukem Forever, games had become bigger and bigger. It wasn’t unusual for a developer now to throw 50 people or more at a single title. In essence, 3-D games had grown up: It’s as if Hollywood had evolved from tiny hand-cranked three-minute reels to two-hour epic blockbusters in half a decade. Successful developers had disciplined management that set deadlines and milestones. Someone at the top carefully made sure every piece was moving along. Yet Broussard and Miller hadn’t changed with the times. They were still designing “with a 1995 mentality,” as one former employee told me — trying to produce a modern, massive game with a stripped-down little group. |
In comparison the HL2 team at Valve, and HL2 was another (somewhat) long awaited game that its team was pretty vocal about their goal, which happened to be exactly the same as the goal of the DNF makers: to make the best PC game ever: "Look, getting game of the year won't be good enough for guys like [designer] Steve Bond," Newell says. "If Half-Life 2 isn't viewed as the best PC game of all time, it's going to completely bum out most of the guys on this team." and: http://i.imgur.com/rjzbH.jpg , had 50 people working on it.

Well I tried the iND crack fix for the game, and it didn't boot anymore, so i'd say that one is a bust.
Got another one that's 187 meg, i'm thinking it might've been the files required for that version floating around prior to the razor release.

I forgot one thing.
http://www.multiupload.com/0UT5ZN5ZFH
Put the folder (You can ignore the NCF, it's used for other stuff.) in the game directory, if Razor did the exe to account for DLC the Big Package should install.
It'll give five MP t-shirts (Or rather as with all of them five logos, in this case for each company involved during development.) a slight boost to the ego bar and a extras option with a head scaling bar. (50 to 150% I think it was, perhaps even smaller or larger.)

Non-scene to the rescue:
3DMGAME-Duke.Nukem.Forever.Crack.Only.Fix2.rar
Note that it won't work on razor1911 version direcly, since you need original steam_api.dll, which is not part of razor1911 release at all. You should be able to find it with google (hint: DNF thread at steam underground forums).
.
With this crack, chapter select works properly. Probably ego saving too (not tested yet).
If you want to transfer save games, new save location is in:
Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\3DMGAME\SAVES\1

Do you mean get the api and put it with the razor release, or get the other release, to be able to use this new crack?
