Corporations: Did you keep track of Sony stocks when this started? Go look it up.
Users: 85% 13 year olds which think that money grows on trees. They swing credit cards which their parents gave them and argue about which skin for Shepards armor has better stats.
And while we here are 'consuming' and 'entertaining' ourselves to death, on the other side of the globe theres 5 million children under 5 months of age dying of diarrhea cause no one wants to spare a dollar for the vaccine.
No, the internet won't have stricter laws because of things like this, it will be opposite. Please, pay more attention to the headlines, and try to track more than a Twitter feed and The Sun.
That's what I think of entertainment, game 'industry' and PSN. Having this much fun in these times should be fucking illegal, amirite?

Where did you get those numbers from? Or is it just asumptions from You?
Edit: While spending money on those kind of things are wrong - imo its up to each parent if they want to do so and NOT a bunch of hackers.

I don't care how you rationalise and justify it, hurting the end-user is WRONG. You can paint LulzSec as "heroes" and "martyr's to your cause" all you want, you're defending the bad guys at the end of the day. LulzSec didn't hurt Ubisoft, or Bethesda, or EA .... they hurt the customers when they leaked information that wasn't pertaining to the corporations in question. They hurt the end-user. What gives you the right to make blanket statements about the age and income of those affected? Even if they were 13 year olds, in what retarded universe does it make it RIGHT to hurt them?
No. LulzSec are scum and criminals and each member caught, and make no mistake; they will ALL be caught, is going to prison for a very long time.
As for the whole "there are 5 million children dying" - I say; put up or shut up. I don't see your magnificent contributions to their welfare. You're "consuming" these products just as much as I, or anyone else for that matter. If you want to help these children, then start with yourself. Stop paying for the internet (if indeed you aren't 13 years old swinging on your daddy's credit card) and send the money to Oxfam. Stop buying any kind of non-essential product and send the money to Barnardo's. Stop buying PC components and consoles, send the money to HAST.
Oh.. what's that...? No you say? funny how everyone else should pay to ease your guilty conscience.

Exacta mundo!
It's up to each one what they are to spend their money on. Some might not care about the starving kids - but most people have enough problem with their own life, and playing games and such things are a good way to relax and get away from reality.
Everyone has the option to give to charity...where the keyword is OPTION! You can't force people to do things like this. We already pay taxes and such and our countries do help other countries with their problems. Perhaps not in an obvious way, but they do help.

sabin maybe he didn't mean he wanted everyone send all their income to charities and stuff. You don't have to spend all your income to help them just a little bit, if everyone gave a little it would help.
If companies gave say 30% of the profits they get from DLC crap to charities it would help. It's not like they would waste resources, addin pet to World of Warcraft takes what...15 minutes and they get millions in return.

This is quite a fail logic, sure it's nice..and blizzard done this on two occasions already one to haiti i think and other to japan and not forget they did for the kid with make a wish foundation
BUT tell why..according to today "standards" if you are rich, you must donate money or else you are labeled scum of society..worse then serial killer or rapist
how does that work?

WoW is probably the worst example you could use since they've given 50% of the price to charities on multiple occasions. They've also given 100% to help with the earthquakes and tsunami relief efforts once.
And I find it funny how you think that it's that easy to add a new pet to WoW. It's definitely not a huge undertaking and once it's done it barely cost them anything to sell it so the profit is huge, but you're definitely underestimating the work that goes with it.

It's more than EA and Activision, I've listed every big publisher I could think of. And the "why" is irrelevant; If they are sustaining loses (no matter the reason), why would they donate to charities?

He doesn't know what people on this board do with their spare time and money, so what was the point in bringing up the "5 million children dying" nonsense for if not to guilt me - and others - into "seeing the bigger picture"
Did LulzSec send money to over-seas charities? Go bleat to them, they're the "Crusaders for Justice! Righters of Wrongs!" apparently.

I'm not rationalizing it or justifying it. You asked, I answered. I learned to differentiate right and wrong some time ago and from my own experiences. You can't affect it anymore really, but I'm OK participating in these threads.

You're right. Poor consumers are hurt. I suggest they go and make themselves feel better by buying a new nVidia card, an iPad or a netbook. When Steve Jobs or Bill Gates find out they're dying of liver cancer or get bored in their old days maybe they start spending all that indescribable amount of money they posses on people whose country's resources they've bled dry.
Quote: | No. LulzSec are scum and criminals and each member caught, and make no mistake; they will ALL be caught, is going to prison for a very long time. |
Nope, not really. Besides, you giving them a bit too much credit.

How well do you know me, of my lifestyle, or what I do in between my internet sessions? What do you know about my 4 year old rig, a collection or 25 original games or my red cross involvement? I'll take any chance I get to make a difference. Be it the right way, wrong way, or just marginal, it really doesn't matter at this point and in this context. Even a bit more radical people have ethics. It's all give or take really.

I am a little confused now... so apparently all this hacking was somehow helping the dying children of Africa? And pissing people off makes them more aware of the issue?
I agree there are better things for people to be doing with their money, but I am far from convinced that what was happening was somehow helping the matters, and it's even harder for me to believe that these groups had such noble intentions...

They didn't care about the end user. They stated that. They fired at everyone, including themselves now. The end was obvious, but at least they stayed true to their own manifesto. Thus I don't understand why people are so upset with the them.

Because it's funny until they take away your vidja-games, and it just shows how narrow minded, two faced, conformist and content some fuckers are. It's sad, pathetic and with grim forecast for the future and you deserve more than your PSN taken away.
