I've been posting about and playing the alpha and then beta every now and then as a new version comes out, I like that Crytek is OK with using assets between games also so theoretically one can port the entire Crysis 1 over.
http://www.crydev.net/viewtopic.php?f=291&t=68879
(Thus keeping all Cry-Engine 3 advantages without overdoing post-processing or simplyfying the levels, of course the full SDK - Latest CE3 build - with source code access ontop of it would be needed for it to be really good.)

EDIT: Also some people from Crytek kinda agrees about the rushed DX11 job. Razz

Type this in your console:

r_UseEdgeAA = 0

Got it working, thx!

Created an autoexe.cfg with 3 settings:
r_PostMSAA = 0
r_FSAA = 0
r_UseEdgeAA = 0

Strange if that works since PostMSAA should be the only one of these commands to have any effect and at a value of 2 alpha transparency objects (fences, vegetation and more.) will show subtle but very irritating flickering, maybe that's been fixed?
(You can set them all in-game directly and compare immediately.)

EDIT: Missed the edge-filet command, that would likely have a different result.
(It's a variant of FXAA but it produces more blur.)

I can confirm r_PostMSAAEdgeFilterNV = 0 has a very noticeable effect, that of removing the blur that comes with the AA.

Are you using SKIDROW's crack? If so, try FLT's proper instead.

I don't really like it, contrast is too high and bloom is overused. Neutral
Crysis still takes the cake.

How do I force 60hz on this game? It keeps selecting either 25 or 50 hz which both look terrible and force my driver into underscan! Sad

  • Start the game with V-Sync disabled
  • Go to options, turn V-Sync on and apply changes
  • Now turn V-Sync back to off and apply

You should be @60Hz now or at least it works for me. However I need to do it every single time I start the game. F*cking CryTek.

You might also want to check this post. Oldtimer mentions some 'refresh lock' setting in ATI Tray Tools.

It seems that inappropriate, automatic refresh rate selection is some common issue in recent games. Sad

Hope it helps. Smile Going' to bed now.

EDIT: You might also wanna try Reforce or RefreshLock. Not sure about the Win7 compability, though. (ReForce doesn't work for me anymore.)

Strange, it works well on my computer Smile Skidrow was VERY buggy, but flt works good with 1.9

Btw Raccoon, I tried the vsync trick and it did initially not work, but I got it working by switching to a lower resolution(800x600) with activated v-sync and then switching back to 1920x1080 without vsync! It then went to 1920x1080@60Hz instead of 1920x1080 at 24Hz.... or 25Hz.... or 50Hz... -_-'

thx! Smile

Note: I even bought an HDMI cable because I was not sure if it was caused by my DVI to HDMI cable, but it didn't change shit! (except for my TV now being able to play back the sound).

Quote:
Maldo just released the latest version of his mod for Crysis 2. Amazing work and effort put into it. Aside from the texture pack, he fixes all sorts of terrible and ugly bugs regarding tessellation (like the things pointed out in that Tech Report article), geometry, the parallax mapping, and other aspects of Crytek's rather sloppy DX11 upgrade. On top of that there's even added tessellation in places that could have used it, parallax mapping on things like tire treads (=P), and overall it's a net gain in performance, runs better than vanilla DX11 ultra :lol

http://maldotex.blogspot.com/

Check out the readme included with the mod for some more details, and especially look at the comparison screenshots he's posted in the past, as well as the ones included with the download. It's pretty mind boggling, both how much he's fixed, and how much was wrong with the maps in the first place.

Just tried that MaldoHD 3.0 mod, looks damn awesome. You can adjust settings even beyond the maximum DX11 settings (FXAA, higher viewdistance/LOD etc..). All maxed out + FXAA on high pics (not best ones, but you get the idea Razz, looks amazing in motion). You can also lower the tesselation on objects if you want, but i didnt touch that Very Happy

It says that the mod fixes some DX11 issues. Does it improve the performance of tessellation? Crytek wasted resources by, for example, the tessellated water that is rendered beneath the floor of the whole level or heavy tessellation of even surfaces for no apparent reason.

Yes you can turn it off or use lower quality tesselation. Vanilla DX11 patch + high textures runs for me 70fps+ anyway so i dont care Very Happy

And what framerates does this mod give you?

I don't mean the quality, but whether the mod fixes issues like http://techreport.com/articles.x/21404/2 and http://techreport.com/articles.x/21404/3.
Calling such usage of tessellation "high quality" is like spawning a few additional threads with
Code:
while(true) {
    String empty = "new empty string";
}
loops and calling them "improved multicore support - game now scales up to 12 cores" Laughing
