Pentium 4 actually, but the stalls are due to disk access and/or mysql not being very efficient, not CPU load.

I am actually getting this most of the time when posting something, seems like the site is timing out in all tabs, but just browsing seems fine for now.

Yeah, that's when it mainly happens; during posting/editing. Browsing is slow from time to time, but the crux of it is definitely during database writes.

Yes, it happens when adding to the search database, and it sets locks on the table, so other searches and posts halt too, I've done some things to make it faster, and it should be better than half a year ago, but I don't yet see a way to get rid of the problem all together without too much work.

I guess it is not as simple as just upgrading the hardware for the sql right?

sites need maintenance sometimes, and the guys in charge here are top notch so when this site is unavailable it means we the users are benefiting in some way, even if we cant tell.

I take it you have adblock running? It shows here.

Under Chrome (15 stable) & Win7x64 the banner isn't positioned correctly.

That's odd H_S, I'm on Chrome 15(.0.874.106 beta-m) and the banner is placed just fine. It was out of place yesterday, but it aligned correctly today. Oh and I'm on Win7-x64 too.

Were having same issues, now I am on 15.0.874.106 and the problem is gone. Try emptying cache.

Same here, I noticed it a couple of minutes ago when replying. I blamed the slow internet at first but I see that I'm not alone

~370 users online, not even remotely close to San Andreas' 1000+ users but the site is definitely suffering as we speak
