I'm taking my time, lol. iCE1.35 comes out in 3 days. I'm gonna wait for that before playing TBoGT. Besides; you wouldn't believe the backlog of games I have on the go right now. It's insane.. I've got maybe 20 games all "started" and "in the middle of" >_<

Trust me, TBoGT will trump most of what you have on your list Laughing

If it weren't for the fact that I've got BF3 to play atm in the few free hours I have, I'd probably have that reinstalled Razz

I played some TLAD last night. Awesome game! It's so cool being able to max it and still play at 40+ hehe. No doubt the framerate will take a huge dump when iCEnhancer comes out, but heh.. I'm happy NOW and that's all the matters.

You said switching to a quad processor would fix the framerate. I was actually using my x3 as x4 just 3 days ago and the framerate were same.

You're using sandy bridge I take it? Im getting almost the same FPS I was getting with athlon 64 x2 with Athlon II.

Shitty port is just shitty. I hope LA Noire to be turn out better.

Worked for me. Switching from a dual-core Wolfdale to a quad-core Sandy Bridge caused the framerate to double (more even) at max settings. I could barely sustain 30-34 on MEDIUM settings on my old rig, now I rock 40-60 on MAX.

Could it be the GFWL or version 1.7?

Edit: Or AMD drivers. So here is the situation:

Im getting low gpu usage inside the city and full usage when im looking at empty spaces, as i said tons of times before.

Nope, I was running 1.0.7.0 on my old rig too. And GfWL has no bearing on the performance, IMO.

It's not as much going from dual -> quad (although that does help a bit) as it is just pure power. The jump from Core 2 Duo to Nehalem was big (it also doubled my FPS, from E8400 to i5-760), Sabin skipped that one and went for one that's even better. Nehalem at 2.8 GHz beats C2D at 3.8 easily in terms of performance, let alone Sandy Bridge.

That and overclocking helps. A lot.

You will, because the game is CPU-dependent more than GPU. GPU helps, sure, but not as much as a kick-ass highly clocked quad.

@Werelds

4.3Ghz on an i5-25k is certainly showing GTA4 who's boss Very Happy <3

I want to get an i5 2500k but its just too expensive here.

Actually taking a shit port as an example is not the way to go. Im getting a good 40-60 fps(vsync) with Bf3 MP on ultra settings. So, I thin Im good for atleast a year with these specs.

Expensive here too mate, mine cost me €179... but it HAD to be done. I'd been on my E7200 for 3 years and it was long overdue for a proper upgrade Sad

I upgraded from E6400 (the very first series). I just wist I could OC my 2500k, but neither the coolig, nor the PSU is up for the challenge Sad

But even at stock, it's perfectly capable of playing GTA4 maxed out, theres texture pop-in of course, but thats beacuse I have only 1 GB Vram.

There's texture pop-in for me too, 8GB/DDR3 and 1280MB on the GTX570. It's just shitty coding, as traschi said.

Are you using the -memrestrict switch? I had tremendous pop-in before using this switch, couldt'n make a turn which out popping textures.

You mean -nomemrestrict? Naw, I'm not.. didn't think it was needed due to being able to max it out anyhow. Thanks, I'll give it a try.

No, -nomemrestrict didn't help at all. Don't ask why, I have no idea. Laughing Keep in mind, if you try memrestrict you have to put vram*1024*1024 behind it.

Odd! Well, I'll give it a try... it can't hurt, I guess, though restricting VRAM to 1GB would LOSE 280MB from my original. Isn't that going to hamper anything?

Restrict it to the vram you have, so -memrestrict 1342177280 should be right for you.

Hmm, are you absolutely sure it's -memrestrict? According to google, that command doesn't exist. It's -NOmemrestrict or -availablevidmem, but nobody makes any comment regards to -memrestrict

Ok, thanks. I couldn't find any other info about it -- even on GTAforums which listed the commands here; http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=397064&st=0&#entry1058959070 Razz

I'll give it a try! Thanks again. I've got the game maxed out as much as it can go and I'm still getting 40-60fps at all times, so it's jarring to see the same crappy texture pop-in stuff from time to time. I'd be well chuffed if this memrestrict fixed it Very Happy

Can't ran it maxed on my system (i2500k, 6950GB@ stock). Maybe it's because I use Ultimate Textures mod, have to try vanilla. Very high shadows bings it down to mid 20 most of the time. No ENB or iCE though. Oh well, still looks and plays awesome Very Happy

That's VERY strange! I'm running an i5-25k (4.3Ghz) and a GTX570 on Stock GTA and I get 40-60 with v.high everything (even night shadows! Shocked)

I put this in a new text-file named Commandline.txt

Quote:
-norestriction
-nomemrestrict
-availablevidmem "4.0"
-percentvidmem "100"

4.0 = 2GB VRAM

And for the guy with a 6950, does it have 2GB and have an unlockable bios (ie. you can open the remaining shaders)?

That would give you 4 times the vram you have, it's a multiplier so use 1.0.
Don't know if my bios is unlockable, my card does have that special switch though, but i'm not going to void my warranty.
Just tryed it which out the texture mod, didn't noticed any performance difference at all! Still lags if I set shadows to very high, and I don't think this is a cpu limitation, gpu is on 98% load most of the time.
I guess this game likes NVIDIA more Razz anyway if you don't have the Ultimate Textures mod, get them! They look a lot better and don't cut on your fps much it seems.

Edit: Those are the mods I use, i don't like the color grading enb series do
