Is there a way to play GTA:SA with a refresh rate higher than 60 Hz without using an external app like ForceWare's refresh rate forcer or some other 3rd party app?

e.g. file edit, command line option, etc

I'm currently running at 1280x1024x32 (same as my desktop, which runs at 75 Hz btw) on an XFX GeForce 6800 GT

TIA

start/run/dxdiag/more help/override/override value/type whatever suits you best but remeber about what refresh rates can your monitor handle

for nvidia

open a txt file and paste this in it....

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]
"NvCplDisableRefreshRatePage"=dword:00000000

....then rename the .txt file to .reg and double click it to add to the registry, then we can have our lovely overide refresh rate option back in the nvidia control panel

I looked up "gormless" in the dictionary, it said "without gorm" .... so i looked up "gorm" but it wasn't there ????

Btw, does anyone know where GTA-SA saves the display settings? My brother can't change them cuz it exits when he presses on 'Advanced'.

This override thing doesnt seem to work for me. I set it to 100, but Gta still runs with 60hz and it is killing my eyes. I also tryed with 3d analyze to force the game to 100hz it just had 4fps and it frozed when i started the game. Then i found a program called Refreshforce. I tryed both 100hz and 85hz with it. This time i wasnt able to even start the game. I had the windows error (don't send error Evil or Very Mad ) Anyone got any other ides, oh btw im using a Radeon 9600pro

Plz dont be mad at me.

There's no difference between clicking on it and selecting it with keyboard and pressing enter. It's keeps going back to windows.

exactly like you said

and as for Erstla, don't know why it isn't working for ya, there has to be some other app that forces your refresh rate (dunno maybe some ati software), that dx trick always works for me (although there have been problems with it when my drivers weren't WHQL certified bleh Rolling Eyes )

ATI owners don't need that, cytalyst drivers have a build in override function there you can choose the frequency you want.

I updated my drivers and now the override thing works. It only works on 85hz but my monitor can handle 100hz too. When i set it to 100hz it just goes back to 60hz. Well im happy now 85 is still much better then 60hz. Thanks for your help everyone.

Plz dont be mad at me.
