Thanks! Well boot times on my console are kinda weird, sometimes it'll boot straight in and sometime's I'll have to wait. Is it ok?

So should I stick to FSD or use NXE? Tho games that I've ftp'ed to console don't show up in XeX menu nor in NXE lol. I've extracted them with ExisoGUI.

Also any other way to ftp shit into internal drive without having my tv on ?Very Happy

And damn this console's power supply is loud as fuck lol, my other slims psu is whisper quiet Rage

What's the max boot time you have experienced? Random boot times is OK, but shouldn't take way too long.

I'd say stick to FSD, it's more customizable and has more features compared to XeX menu. Why not just use an external drive for playing games? No need to FTP. Razz

Well it's quite random, I thought it would be more stable. Sometimes it boots straight away and sometimes I've got to wait for like 20-30sec.
I'll be getting external drive next month I guess. so FTP is my only choice right now tho.

Shawn_Hunter what about your power brick? Is it loud? I'm starting to think it may be a broken one. It sounds like psu fans are running on full power all the time, or it's a cheap fan lol.

Also how do you upload covers for fsd?:<

I read somewhere that you can make FSD download covers and game info automatically for you Very Happy

Regarding the boot times, mine is the same as yours. Although, it's an Arcade (Jasper) and not the Slim. Boot times never bother me, as long as it boots. Wink

Power brick noise? Nope. The only noise which is audible is the internal console fan, when I set it to, say, 80% or higher.

I usually don't fancy covers. But if I want to download them, I just connect my Ethernet cable, select the game in FSD and click on 'Refresh Artwork'. It automatically starts downloading the covers. Never did it manually. I guess it only needs an active Internet connection.

Power brick does have a small fan. It can produce some noice after console is on for couple of hours. I can hear mine if I get down to it

can someone give me a quick run down of current affairs? i havnt turned on my xbox in almost a year, and it is just running that hitachi fw that is wide open. im fine flashing it, and i have the sata card since the first flash came out, but i imagine its not safe any more to go on live, and its probably on its last leg anyway. what is the current best solution for playing online? are those wasabi ode units safe? if i buy a new xbox right now, will i need to buy anything special to flash it with? are there any current hardware revisions that you cant flash?

thanks for any help

Simplest solution, get a 2nd hand Elite console, likely to have an easily flashable BenQ or Liteon drive. Update with latest dashboards then flash with LT3 and you are as safe as can be on Live. Read up on xgd3 and liteon ihas drives though, you will need a new dvd burner. Slim xbox for me, are not worth the hassle and alot of the drives cannot be flashed.

OR .. you could wait for LT3 to come out for your Hitachi drive (if it is a 78/79 model) or just flash to the latest LT for your Hitachi if it is an older model (these ones dont need LT3).

Yes, I used to have that problem when I was a peasant LT user, usually programs running in tray can mess up a burn. So don't do that any more.

It all comes down to your PC's e-pen, and how well it can handle multi task. But even so, no matter the monolith you use for a PC, it is recommended to leave the writing process alone until it's finished.
Bottom line is that when you burn DVDs, let your computer burn the damn DVD and nothing else.

Since i am only using verbs on ihas, I never had bad burn, and I always pause my torrents and don't touch pc or at least start burning with nfo open and loaded Laughing
For me burning is still a good method. I dont care for dlc or xbla and I don't want to fiddle wih all of this too much. At least its easy to recon whats up with all the lt stuff and just to do 5min flash once half a year. Verbs are cheap and burned games doesnt take space on hdd.
Its a perfect solution for me. And btw, 3 years and not banned yet:p

I was thinking about it but now its too late anyway. I dont understand anything about rgh or jtag and wouldnt pay any overpriced guy to do that. I have burned like 60discs and have latest dash so migh not even be able to rgh.
Besides. Title updates are very important for me. I am using live mainly just to update games. I know there are sites and software for this like horizon, bu this way is more comfortable. I am good with rooting my phone but something stops me from doing this to my xbpx

It's already here. FSD does full title updates and you can pick and choose if you want to use them.

I kinda understand where you're coming from though. What did it for me was the number of iXtreme updates being carried out and sooner or later the cost of discs outweights the price of a jtag/rgh. I picked up a second hand xbox for like £50 which I use for live and have complete 'free' DLC on my jtag and no issues with region locking. Disks work out cost ineffective when a jtag is a one off price.

I haven't burned a game for over a year, yet I bought the iHAS burner and flashed it back when that stuff was "new" - question though, is the iHas still the "only" burner that is able to burn new, Live-safe games? I'm selling and building a new PC, and I have my beloved Pioneer and iHas (which has never been used, lol) in it, so I just wanna know which one to keep.

thing is, there arent that many 360 games worth having recently - and the machine has a year, maybe 18 months left before the replacement at most so i can see why some are happy to just do the odd flash and keep on using their discs.

Well I play all my games on my JTAG machine anyway, but I have an LT 360 for live - the funny thing is though, I only play my bought Forza 4 on it Since it's nowadays the only game where I have a bunch of friends that play online.

Well of course, but compared to my JTAG, it's damn safe, and the fact that I don't play copies on it

Haha, not really, I was planning on playing copies on it, (I have played plenty of games before), but even since I got my JTAG a year or so ago, I've been playing less and less online, since most of my Live-friends buy their games, and there hasn't been many lately that we all play. Therefore, I play them offline instead Smile
