I did and it was originally posted on DSO;

http://www.dsogaming.com/news/skyrim-realistic-overhaul-is-a-must-have-texture-pack-version-1-1-released/

Quote:

Features:

- SRO 1_1 version contain previous Landscape textures. Some are new, but mostly normal maps are improved. They reflect lighting properly now.
- New feature are Cities, Temples, Dungeons, Villages textures.

- Architecture:

- Markarth
- Riften
- Solitude
- Whiterun
- Windhelm
- Winterhold
- Skyhaventemple
- Sovngarde
- Highhrothgar

- Dungeons:

- Caves
- Dwemer Ruins
- Imperial
- Nordic
- Riften

- Villages are also improved and some interior textures.

- Texture resolution is mostly 2048k.
- Mountains are now also 2048k. 4096k version will be optional, separate download.
- My original plan was to put this pack in to separated bsa files. But because of size it was not an option. Unpacked mod is 3.8gb large.

Looks good though 30 to 60 FPS seems a bit off (I assume it's max at 60 with Vsync on.) then again it's probably fine since ENB does take quite a performance hit depending on how you have it configured and what custom options has been added, bokeh isn't a cheap effect when implemented this way and ENB's SSAO/SSIL sort-of devastates performance on all current hardware.

Rest is just texture mods (And some model tweaks possibly.) and those shouldn't be a problem as the 680 has a minimum 2 GB VRAM and up to 4GB for some of the upcoming variants of it.

Of course Skyrim itself is still a bit poor with CPU utilization although after the 1.4 update things really improved, probably due to how much the community kept talking about it. Razz
(And in the above images you are in a city where this is really noticeable, Dragonsreach was a famous point for testing performance after all, heh.)

EDIT: Right you probably also use MSAA with adaptive / transparency AA which will also see a performance hit though the newer cards (560 and up I guess.) should handle it OK from what I remember.

Most of the drops from what i've seen are still cpu-related. So yeah Razz.

I have a measly i5 2400.

That's not a bad CPU though, you would probably see much better utilization if the game could take advantage of recent improvements, better threading for example and utilizing more than two cores would help out but I guess the code could also be improved to take advantage of SSE3 and maybe better for another nice performance gain.

Open world game though and lots of AI and other scripts to handle so it will be demanding, at least it doesn't bog down with more than five NPC in one location any longer, Oblivion could get pretty sluggish with several actors near eachother. Razz
(Morrowind did OK but of course the AI didn't really do much other than wander around a bit plus combat specific behavior.)

EDIT: And yeah the mod ratio is a bit skewed if you compare gameplay to graphics, plus all sorts of joke mods and the erotic content.
(I like how some of the outfits look though but I wouldn't use them myself, ha ha - http://noirim.blog.fc2.com/ - sometimes you find neat stuff though like these cat creatures someone created, been meaning to place some in my owned estates - http://noirim.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-462.html - )

And how to compare all this texture goodness?
For instance between Realistic Overhaul and Serious HD Retexture http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=2146 ?

You can open textures in irfanview and compare, but a lot has also to do with normal maps.

I'll trust JBeckman advice if you have one: how do you pick your texture packs (not considering performance as a choice criteria)?
Thanks

I usually do just that, compare a few textures and normal maps and go by what's best, problem is of course that just looking at the texture doesn't tell you how it'll work in-game but a quick comparison can usually be made though I normally don't do it.

Usually I go by texture detail and not overall resolution but also how it's used, a recent rather popular mountain texture replacer uses the same files for both base textures thus causing a few visual oddities despite otherwise having good detail and resolution and surprisingly detailed normal maps.
(It's pretty difficult to tell normal map quality but it's usually easy to tell if it was generated via a third party texture plugin or properly rendered or "baked" via 3D albeit this isn't all too common due to the extra work and utilities required plus of course the time it takes.)

(Millenia's WRP texture projects for example or that armor retexture project that began with the iron armor and now tries to finish up the hide armor after completing the fur retexture.)

Also tiling can be pretty difficult to measure accurately and effects are very difficult to gauge such as sun or sky retextures, alpha channel work in general might be sketchy too such as vegetation for example. Smile

Oh and don't go by file size as that's usually either due to poor compression or simple upscaling which doesn't really add any detail, you do want slightly less aggressive compression on the normal map though to preserve finer details and avoid artifacts.
(Those early modifications for face textures - face textures are hard as hell to judge accurately by the way, hah - anyway the pixelation seen in those and various methods to solve it although initially it was done via just blurring the thing which in my opinion isn't very good.)

(Face comparison - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/imageshare/image.php?id=61407 )

Also witnessed the random encounter where he appears ~5 times now. Laughing

With the new Realistic Overhaul I'm having some stuttering that I didn't have before, I guess the official HD textures+Overhaul is a bit too much even for my system. Back to the old "light" version

You have to disenchant items at an enchantment table.
