Is anyone else experiencing weird stuttering which partially goes away by enabling v-sync? It's very evident and annoying in some areas of the game, such ad the oasis, the channels and the spider area of act 2 and in some other bits of act 3. I am running the game on a clevo laptop, i7+6990m. I tried catalysts 12.3, 12.4 and 12.4a. It seems like the issue isn't videocard based though.

So it's a bit too much 'lotto' right now and it's very expensive to get an item you can use.

An advise on that: I'm a barbarian and while crafting, droping str and vit items were my pain in the arse. But with demon hunter, instead of dex, str int and vit has better percentage.
why did they even do this?!

Fun. I've been watching some Australian forums and it's painful reading about the lag. |
i played closed beta for months on US server with 150-200ms and it was perfectly playable.

150-200 ms is playable. Hell I sometimes play at 600 ms and it is playable. The only thing I have noticed about it is longer time to generate loot and occasional "leaps". Although I don't know how lag will affect coop.

You can tell that they've spent quite a while fine tuning it. |
Yep, my experience as well so far. The online thing is a bit of a bummer when it lags, because it also delays your attacks, but when it doesn't lag the combat feels fantastic as well. I'm gonna get shot down by some people for this, but compared to Path of Exile combat is a lot more exciting. PoE is great in the sense that you "feel" the hits. D3 does that as well, but in addition it isn't so excruciatingly slow. My "crazy barbarian on a frenzy" is actually crazy and on a frenzy, whereas in PoE I never got to the point where it felt anything more than Conan go "EUHEUHHEUEHUHE" while taking 3 second swings (and yes, I was dual wielding two fast swords in PoE ).
Also to all the nay-sayers when it comes to the lack of a talent tree: the runes give plenty of choice. Again comparing to PoE, that definitely has more options. D3 on the other hand doesn't try to confuse the fuck out of you. GGG desperately need someone who knows something about UX (User Experience), because their UI is just terrible, especially compared to D3. What D3 lacks in the visual department, PoE lacks in the UI department. Gameplay wise they're both similar (although I don't like PoE's trading system), they both provide good feedback and have some good gameplay mechanics. For me the shit UI in PoE puts that below D3 right now though.

Complete opposite on my barbarian, I haven't seen a single item with strength on it
Then I made a wizard last night to play with Lathieza and all of a sudden I start getting strength drops. So much for random loot haha
Epsilon wrote: | The weapon damage spell system, as a wizard it's better for me to run around with an axe than a wand, simply because the axe has a higher damage rating than a wand.
This could've easily been prevented by giving a bonus to damage for classes if they used a class specific weapon.
So that really annoys me, looking at my wizard running around with a huge axe, casting spells. Sure some might find it cool, but it's not really 'in character' for me. |
I think this is bad luck. On my wizard I now actually have a wand that has higher DPS than any other weapon I've seen so far on both my characters, 13.5 (still low level, sue me!).
Absolutely loving the game, there's a few things that aren't perfect (some environments should be much grimmer, low-quality visuals overall), but the gameplay itself is brilliant. And while the visuals are of fairly low quality, the attention to detail shines through everywhere.

dont forget, wizard can wield offhand items that have + damage on them, which more then balances it out.
for example adds 3-6 damage is HUGE dps improvement at low levels
(adds around 15 dps)
in general the add damage is really helpful.
My barbarian now uses a 2h maul with a flawless ruby in it (adds 10-20 damage) which increases my flat dps (the one shown in char screen) by
roughly 65 dps (236 without, 301 with) or 27% !
(so having rings, gems etc with add damage is really a great way to GREATLY increase damage output)

You can from the beginning as I recall from the beta. But you have to find two 1h crossbows.

Looking back at all the people who complained about the skill trees being removed, which would mean less customization...... LOL.
Spoiler: | What the fuck was with Izual? He was way harder than Diablo. He one shotted me a few times with my barb of 1600hp and 38% armor protection. All in all this is a great game, the difficulty on normal mode took me by surprise, Act3 was very frantic. I thought even my GF could breeze through this game but i can see she probably wont be able to beat normal mode without some major help. D2 was piss easy comparatively. |

Can anyone comment on difficulty? Is teh area of the starter edition supposed to be very easy or is the monk just extremely overpowered? I was playing on hard.
How is the discount situation with Blizzard games? Any chance this will drop below 30 bucks soon?

It's pretty easy until you reach the crypts, overall I did quite good during most of the first act but died twice and came close to dying a number of times towards the end, act 2 however was quite a step up in difficulty but my equipment is currently pretty bad.
(But I've managed OK so far, some monsters can take half the health bar away in one or two hits though but often it can be avoided since their attacks are slow or you see that they start doing some special animation or similar.)

there is no "hard".
And yeah, it gets harder. Im in act 1 nm now and boss fights can be quite tough (and deadly).
edit :
general , you HAVE to stack up on vitality. its probably the most important stat in the game.

Normal, Nightmare, Hell, Inferno - if I remember them correctly.
(Above normal is available in the trial? Maybe you weren't talking about the trial mode at all.)
EDIT: Pretty sure each difficulty is also quite a step up from the previous one but Inferno is apparently in a class of it's own.
