Are there any version of the ruler designer dlc floating around? Or would it be 'dangerous'/impossible to use it on a legit game (afaik, it 'could' detect that you've some dlc which isn't on your gamersgate account).

I've just enough blue coins to get the sword of islam when it's out Razz

Ahem.. firewall??, or turn off internet connection.
Parodox games have zero drm, don't worry. Just delete/move you're dlc files when playing legit. The worst thing that could happen is a corrupt save when you go back to the legit version and load a save that used a "pirated" dlc.
btw, swords of islam is the only dlc you want i think, the others are cosmetic and forgetable.

Ruler Designer allows you to customize you your character without making it overpowered. For every good trait, you must get at least one bad. So, if i chose the genius trait, most likely i'll have to get something like shy, or stressed.

Sword of Islam is nothing that the fans didn't already released. There are some mods floating around, though they are highly unbalanced.

Judging by the dev diaries, I highly doubt modders could pull off all the intricacies they put in. Decadency system, polygamy, new succession law, etc. Not to mention the new music and UI of course. After reading the dev diaries, they will play very differently.

The dlc model seems a bit better then the old expansions, they only charge money for new content instead making of a big patch and ask money for it.
I will never buy a paradox game though, overprized. A full game is worth 20-30 euro's I think since all the games in the series have the same basic mechanics/game engine, and not the 100 euro's that is needed to buy a full game with expensions over 2 years.
Good thing it is DRM free Very Happy

Yea, Sword of Islam is adding things modders couldn't pull off. For example: the islamic ruler marries 4 women, there are differences in lesser holdings, etc...

It's definitely better than the Ruler Designer dlc.

Please do tell what game costs 100euros. A newly released paradox game tend to be priced like any other game, but the price also falls fast. And there is no way you'll have to pay a lot for a game + expansion. Where did you get that idea?

In case someone didn't know, there is finally a decent Game of Thrones mod for CK2 http://citadel.prophpbb.com/topic657.html

It is version 0.1.1 at the moment, but even in such state it is surprisingly well polished for beta, very playable and fun. Pretty much all the characters are in. With special GoT content, Targaryen, Ironborn specific events, traits, wildfire, dragons and shit. (Although I haven't seen any dragons yet).

I bought this game after playing it a lot. Could not afford full price and found it on steam with all DLC for $12.49. That is a great deal, I will also probably get the sword of Islam DLC, we will see when I pay for that though.

GMG have the Sword of Islam DLC up.

£7.99. Anyone who's got some store credit could pick it up fairly cheap. Smile

Or you can play the pirated version until the inevitable complete collection is out.

There are some rumors about a DLC that will aloow you to play Pagan. Curious if they'll do that. If yes, I expect a DLC that will allow you to play republics and theocracies.

Meh... Piracy is for losers. Laughing

Seriously, though, just bought it from GMG. Only cost me £2 with my store credit, and for what it adds, it's worth it I think. Smile

They screwed up with patch 1.06. Now for example if the monarch of France decides to embrace islam the game is over. You can play as a muslim only if you buy the dlc. It feels kind of cheap on their part tbh.

And the dlc is good btw.

Well you need the russian repack 1.05b, the 1.05g exe and the gamersgate patch 1.06b.

Install the repack, copy the rest of DLC in the DLC folder, apply patch 1.06b, copy the 1.05g exe in the install folder.

Start the game with the 1.05g exe (to authenticate the DLC's). You might need to do it 3 times.

After that operation start the game with 1.06b exe.

If it's about the gameplay tips, you need to balance the construction with buildings that bring money from taxes and buildings that raise the amount of the levies that you can call. Give your unwanted counties to mayors and bishops, as they'll turn on you slower than the nobles. Use the councilors to do research or change the religion/culture of the newly conquered teritories. Also, put your spymaster to uncover plots in the kingdom. That way you are ready for any possible internal rebellion. Best inheritance systems are the ellective and the one that allows women to rule.

Those are a few basic tips. Anything else, feel free to ask.

You need the latest repack by SxSl. It has all the latest dlc's and you don't need any cracks, the game updates automatically through the launcher.

There is a good set of tutorials in the game, so that's the place to start. For actual starting realms, I recommend one of the Irish duchies. You can work towards unifying the country and it's an isolated enough place that you'll be left alone pretty much all of the time. Great place to get the hang of the game.

Looks like a new DLC is coming. Also devs mentioned in the thread that the Byzantine Empire was intended to have different government rules, but they've put the generic western rules, so to be present in the game from the launch.

Typical Paradox, what can i say....
