I wish I could enjoy this game but the constant tearing that you get when you play with a VGA cable is killing me. It's unbelievable! I bet no one has ever seen something like that. Even in the smallest movements in cutscene and during gameplay there is really ugly, heavy tearing visible all the time. It completely destroys the nice looking graphics. Some people say they only have this problem since the autumn dashboard update. I don't know but I wish Capcom (or MS) would move their lazy ass and release a patch! |
I play with VGA cable. The graphics was the only thing I found cool about the demo (the engine is really awesome with all the zombies on screen)

Well then your game experience will probably not be very good unless they will release some kind of fix. You can take a look at this thread: http://forums.xbox.com/7779417/ShowPost.aspx

WTF, how does this save game system work? I got to the end of the first scenerio, was level 4 and had it saved, i started it up again and my save game loaded with me being level 4, but all the missions and shit i did weren't done and I had to start again from the beginning, even though I still had my levels.

there are two saves , quick save , and save
Quick save - bathroom (will be deleted when you turn off console)
Save - a place when you sleep for 4 h (only one place in the whole game the yellow couch)

theres the red couch in the beginning that i use. I saved it on that, im level 4.
That doesn't answer my question though, do i have to fucking restart the game everytime i re-load?

apparently the idea is you can restart from the beginning with a more powerful character..
Quote: | Dead Rising has an unusual game save system: only one game-in-progress can be saved per memory device per Xbox 360 profile. In these cases, Dead Rising allows players to save their current level and status and restart the game from the beginning as a more powerful player. The system is a deliberate game mechanic, borrowed from one of Capcom's RPGs Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter; the two games share some development team members. |
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_rising#Game_modes_and_save_system
Quote: | Dead Rising follows a structure much like Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter (a few Dragon Quarter dev team members are on Dead Rising's team). It intends for you to replay each chapter, while retaining the experience, stat boosts and attacks learned in preceding playthroughs. Clearing the first chapter, for example, is much easier the third time through: Not only do you know where to go and what you can do, but you have a stronger attack rating, faster speed, a bigger life bar, an expanded item inventory, and a longer throw distance.
An awkard save system bogs down your progress more than the repetitious play. You have the limited options of either save points, or recording your statistical progress and restarting the level entirely. It feels like an artificial way for the dev team to extend the replay value of the game, but when you have as large a playing field as Dead Rising provides, you begin to appreciate the method behind Capcom's madness. |

Did you happen to die and chose to save when the game asked you? Normally when you save in the save room and load the savegame you will keep all your progress (just as in any other game). But when you die, you can either reload your last save or create an empty save that resets the game story but let's you keep your upgraded stats.
This feature is more useful than it sounds. When you don't manage to complete story missions on time, you kill the story (really, no joke). This allows you to start over again, but with better abilities to make it easier.

yeah, until now I didn't realize that this was the point, I found it a bit frustrating and I was late for a lot of stuff. Kinda stopped playing because of this, will have to give it another go.

He better not be, because he is wrong.
Spykez, you have done something wrong. Most likely what me7 said; you restarted the game.
Of course you get to start from where you saved, not from the beginning. The game is quite long and you will lock up some cool modes when finnished (especially if getting the A-ending).

I know it wasn't everyones cup of tea, but I loved the save-system in this, thought it was brilliant.
Could of course have been because I never fucked up with it.

I can't answer the rest because it's been a while since I played and can't recall if there was any vsync in the game or how much analogue control there is on the camera, but I know for a fact that intro you're describing is very much in the game -- it's the intro itself. It happens right at the start when you're being piloted around the town in the helicopter and you have to snap photos of the area and there is a woman being attacked in her car.
