Logic? The game is entirely non logical. There are things enemies can do that you can't do for starters. There's a lot of "oh fuck off that's not fair" moments to be sure.

Like those two fucking Bell Gargoyles, that was a definite "Oh what? That's just bullSHIT!" moment Especially when they both start going apeshit, slashing at you, bathing the entire rooftop in flame, yeah that was fun.

Agreed game can be quite frustrating at certain points, I beat the "Artorias of the Abyss" content (The new stuff for the PC version.) and some stuff there is downright brutal but I might have done it wrong for all I know, nearly done with the game now otherwise, still have New Game+ mode of course plus I know of a few things I missed or messed up but otherwise I'm pretty happy with how this first run through has gone.
Spoiler: |
Sanctuary guardian wasn't too bad, fast and very mobile but also very weak, Artorias himself was really similar although had even less health but hit for more damage and was more difficult to block or evade, areas in general weren't bad at all even if the new area felt quite small but it's probably the best designed place in the game in my opinion.
Then comes a certain optional dragon boss where I had to waste around 300 dragon arrows to get him to die - bastard only dropped a ring which doubles whatever damage I take - but I have a feeling you weren't supposed to beat him like that but I did it anyway.
Plus that last area boss in the abyss proper, area itself is really easy and not too difficult to navigate but then the boss kinda kills you over and over due to extreme speed and massive damage dealt, took a lot of time before I got him down and dead.
Now to find the remaining items - Guardian Armor is pretty damn strong, surpassing Havel's in some regards although it can't be upgraded either - such as Artorias armor set and what locations and NPC I might have missed, overall though I had a lot of fun with this location but even the "quest" to access the place is a long and cumbersome one due to all the various requirements and places you need to go to.
Plus there's a surprise encounter which I wasn't expecting at all while I was traveling back to the main areas of the game, although quite a cheap move the fight that ensued was really thrilling and fun, particularly once those things were dead and you had survived.

You can summon Solaire to help you with the fight. It's probably the easiest fight in the game if you do, though, since he tanks all the damage, so more fun to not do that!

That's precisely why I HAVEN'T summoned him to help at any time, it feels like it would take the fun out of the game.

Honestly, it's going to take a while.
Here's a more detailed (Though I'll try to minimize spoilers where possible.) answer.
Spoiler: |
First, you need the "Lordvessel", if you do not know what that is don't think too much about it, you'll acquire it as you continue through the game, this is the main condition for getting the new content to start.
Secondly there's a place near the Darkroot Gardens which was earlier a optional area for a place to soul farm, if you've beat Havel you have a shortcut near that location to here - if you don't know whom Havel - but I guess you've played the console version - he's just a optional NPC you can fight should you want to.
After reaching this location go out in the water and follow the shoreline, don't enter the deep water or you'll fall and drown, you should find something here that's a bit out of place, deal with that and a cutscene should start, this is the introduction to this new area.
Lastly you need a key item for the portal to activate, this item is in one of the previously locked areas - before you acquire the "Lordvessel" and make use of it - after having this item just return to the previous area and the portal will activate and you'll enter the Sanctuary, prepare yourself well as this is a higher level area.
|
EDIT: A bit more spoilers.
Spoiler: |
The location is Darkroot Basin, it's guarded by a Hydra whom ideally you want to take out first before crossing into the water, this is already a pretty tough fight.
In the water a path towards the end of the little basin goes into a small cave area of sorts, there's a gold crystal golem here whom is holding the NPC until you've killed it and thus freed her.
The item is a broken pendant, in the Duke's Archives in the blocked of area in Anor Londo just before you enter the main archive itself there's some crystal skeletons here and a out of place golem, kill this crystal golem and you'll get the pendant, then just return to the Darkroot Basin area again and enter the swirling portal to be grabbed and sent into the Sanctuary which is the way into the new areas.

Bell Gargoyles can be a pain in the ass if you're new to the game. Just when you feel comfortable with the game it throws 2 bosses at you.
Smough & Ornstein is 100x worse though as they're both incredibly strong and fight in the opposite way making it incredibly hard to handle.

That battle was interesting, I wanted a certain thing though so I did the more difficult path with the help of Solaire, would have been impossible otherwise though Solaire was quite close to being dispatched even before the battle got difficult and then things got really tense but eventually I succeeded, now I'm mostly trying to decide if it's worth it to do a certain other thing but it'll paint me as a permanent PvP target for a certain Covenant which is a real problem because I'm having trouble enough as is from the Darkwraith's whom are invading on occasion.

I actually thought the gargoyles were kinda easy, easy to avoid/block attacks, and the other one that spits fire is also easy to avoid with positioning. First three bosses are not so hard, i expect things to get alot more harder soon xD
Now that black knight dude on undead pariah on the other hand, still havent taken him down :/ i want his greatsword |
I killed him pretty easily, he didn't drop shit for me :/
Just keep block up at all times and walk around him, learn his attacks and hit him after he's done trying to hit you. keep at it for a while and he's dead. |
yea its easy, same tactic as always with these kind of enemies: circle around them, after they attack backstab them for massive damage, voilà.

I don't even circle around them. Stand a bit from them, and when they start the attack animation just walk out of range then charge in and attack once, rinse and repeat till they're dead.
This is only for enemies like the Black Knights/Butcher.

yes but as i said, backstab = several times the damage of normal attack, you can usually kill them with 2-3 backstabs, much quicker.

Only took me 3 strong attacks with a +2 Zweihänder.
Obviously do backstabs if you play a character that benefits from that.

Only on a console could this be a good games, if this was a PC title it would be a 6/10. | ehmmm what to say , its the Knight's Field spiritual successor... a sony console game from a developer that knows how to make hard real life like rpgs [not those crap manga emo big sissy bro lets play with children because we are pedos like shit]... if part 2 would be again a ps3 exclusive then this FAIL port wouldn't exist ... but yeah like they say if you make a xbox360 game a pc game is a freebie build already there with dx9 calls in place
imagine you have a console developer that does only console game and now they get this FAN thing and there have this freebie dx9 thing laying around so they say... hey let's make more money
the thing is on PC you have something like Drivers for sound , graphics etc. something like Configuration for those drivers etc... explain that to a Japan culture of console developers that develop on ONE closed system with set standards with known limitations , same sound chips graphic etc...
a perfect example is ...Prince of Persia 4 : Sands Of Time a game designed for PC that was ported to other systems ... it had the perfect control scheme KB+Mouse... lets go into the future and compare it to the horrible awful port Prince of Persia: Warrior Within pc got the ps2 version not the XBox and well you where FORCED to have a PAD min with 12 button and two ANALOGS to be able to finish this or play ...or be a monkey and have a tail map 12 buttons on keyboard and play wtih a mouse ... a horrible experience
or hey lets get back to MGS 2 on PC a port that horrible it was :
A. only complatible with ATI cards you have to hex edit a crack to make it even nvidia compatible
B. did i mention you needed to press 5 buttons at the same time to shot a GUN
did i completed those two games
POP 5 nope didn't had a pad , but MGS2 yup had to hex hack a exe to make it run on a Nvidia card , a game that should run right out of the box ... when now i play the HD remake on the xbox360 and only have to press 2 buttons to fire anything... its a different experience... its a different better game
or Alien Breed remake again on KB+M its unplayable but on a PAD its a great game
or Devil May Cry 3 on PC with fucked up controls right out the box that was only fix if you used a external program joy2key but still right analog is fucked ... again the HD remake was a blessing but its on consoles
so why the PC people rant :
a game should work right out the box
not you need XYZ and ONLY THIS SPECIFIC XYZ drivers for sound [ try to play any game that needs open all sound drivers on newer system ... tough luck you need a work around], graphics [drivers that destroyed a game Splinter Cell Double Agent or The Longest Journey 2 : DreamFall anyone] [Ati users well you know what i am talking about], control scheme etc..
if a game adds a anal probe to play a game thats not on the consoles
what would you pick
i am not a elitist PC prick fan boy zombie or what ever you hip people call yourself today , i am a old man that wants to experience a game not have hassles with technical shits to play a game ... pc users rant they pay money for a unfinished product , a product they have to self fix , not that i want to streamline the shit of things still want to tweak anything on my pc but when you buy something like this... you get angry
when i play games of today i think developers for PC are backwards retarded and senile and think PC only still runs DOS and users still need to tweak config.sys file to have enough shit external ram with qemm or tweak your ram etc. to be able to run a game
to make this wall short they didn't knew how to develop a game on PC and what control standards are used porting it and hoping it runs , a great real life like rpg became a unplayable mess on pc
thats why i play on mediums on with a game is a game not a technical disaster

Is anyone else getting some big fps drops in Blighttown and Demonic Ruins when using dsfix? It only happens when I look in certain directions, but it drops down to 15 fps. If I delete dsfix the problem goes away.

Of course it does, cause the GPU doesn't render everything in 2x resolution.
No, we have no bears on the streets here in Russia.

you feel incredible when you finally finish gwyn

you can go even more lower towards blighttown from one end of the gaping dragon fight or you can head upwards the way you came and go back to the undead burg
if you're going to blighttown i would suggest heading to darkwood basin and farming the tree fellas for some anti toxin herbs

Problem is that it's quite difficult doing a backstab. You need to stand PERFECTLY behind him. I didn't manage to get a single backstab on my kill.

yea in the beginning its difficult, i used to only get every 5th or 7th backstab, but after alot of practice i never miss one anymore, and it really pays off.
it helps to stop moving when youre at the right spot and then quickly strike, you get the feel of it after a while, its tough to describe.
