Have you made sure to change the wiimote extension to "classic controller"? Or if it's a Gamecube game, make sure you have the emulator with a GC controller set in port 1

Wait... so I can't use my gamepad to emulate the classic wii pad directly?

My system is too slow for the game, drops to 20 fps on the first battle (the tutorial) and I cba to fiddle around with settings or read about them online right now.

It's all about the gigahertz. For constant smooth gameplay in Xenoblade you want 3.6Ghz-4Ghz --- and having a specific revision of Dolphin solely for XB is a good thing too; "r3.0-72 HLE Hack" I've seen people claim "perfect lolz no slowdown lolz with e6600 3ghz lolz" but they're full of shit. 3.6Ghz and above for smooth gameplay.
There's also a 60VPS patch that makes the PAL version run at 30fps (jut like the JP version) instead of the normal 25fps.

I'm planning my first ever HTPC and I plan to stuff it with some good oldskol gaming - ala NES, SNES, n64 roms and emulators. I was also thinking about PSX and I'm wondering - does anyone here has complete collection? I'm just interested in its size before I go squirreling the roms.

Sure, but why would you want to use anything else? MIJ is as close to perfect as you're going to get.

There's a bunch of opensource drivers and tools there .. I still say MIJ is the best you'll find.

You could try the drivers made by Sony that were found in the leaked ps3 sdk 3.41,
There signed and work great for me on pro evo with zero lag , no Bluetooth , also contains a tool which I never use.
I never tried motion joy so can't compare them.

I use ds3 pads , I do have a weird problem on one of my systems where if I shut down windows after unplugging the ds3 windows hangs on the shutdown screen.
Doesn't happen on my htpc so probs just a problem with that one.
Also I have to configure the right stick in the pro evo settings first ,then they work perfect.
How are they compared to motion joy?

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is really great. It's an adventure game though. I was able to finish it on DeSmuME with no problems, bar some minor slowdowns.

If you like "Ghost Trick" you should definitely check out "Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors" if you haven't played it. Works great in DeSmuME.

How does everyone have the sensor bar setup for the dolphin emulator? I have a defunct TV remote I thought of rewiring the irled's.
I've read the last few pages, did read right that all speed hacks should be enabled in pcsx2? I'm playing dragon quest 8 and it drops to 15 fps at times.
This is what I use to get the Dual Shock 3 to work with pcsx2 64 bit windows:

1. I don't use my real Wiimote, I just emulate on the keyboard and mouse.
2. Everything should be ticked these days, they have almost no drawbacks. Just don't move the sliders to Cycle Stealing, leave them at default.

How functional is that? Is it troublesome with certain games?
