Dredd (2012) - 6/10 - A weak story , its another remake that gives a weak name to the original, the problem must be or with these damm writers or the directors that pay more attention to special effects than to the story , still think there is just one Dread (Stallone). If they make a sequel at least pick decent directors and writers to do it, or the next one is just gonna be like a van damme or segal movies a lot blood but no plot.
Prometheus - 9/10.
That movie was freaking awesome! Loved every minute of it. Didn't like that David from the first minute I saw him, there was something odd about him lol. CGI were cool too. Tho I've got to say I was expecting a bit more of the aliens rather than the last shot
If you have a bad taste in your mouth after watching prometheus, just watch this, it might help you identify what was so wrong with it
Felt like answering their questions:
Spoiler:
Black/Green goo - It's not explained. I don't fault a movie for not explaining every single thing. Sometimes I prefer it.
Weylands make up - It was terrible I agree but that hardly bothered me at all
Premade hologram look at scientists - It might have been a CGI hologram, or it might just have been staged earlier. The woman told them where to stand.
Why did they think off the air way okay to breathe because there was an oxygen atmosphere - It did bother me a bit, but life in space at this point has not been found so there is no established protocol to check for viral agents, which is why noone prevented him from doing it. And why he did it? Maybe he's just a thrill seeker. It's a bit weird but I can live with it.
Biologists runs away - It was a geologist that started panicking not a biologist. Biologist just went with his friend.
Scientist and the snake - A truly absymal scene I agree with that. I hated it but it was the only thing I hated.
Charlize as weylands daughter - Doesn't matter?
Why did david infect the scientist - We don't know, it's not explained. Like I said I don't fault a movie for that.
Fish out of eye - Weird, but we don't know what the goo does. It alters dna, a lot of crazy shit can happen, and there are remnants of other species dna in human dna.
Why did david know the girl would get pregnant and infected - There is no indication that he did know. We was probably been doing a normal medical scan when he found out.
Engineers created all life - It's never stated or proved that this is the case. They created human life. And if we share with DNA with them and other life forms, maybe we're just an experiment of them combining their dna with a monkey.
Why did engineer chase them instead of flying away - Maybe because he didn't want them to ruin his mission. Which is what happened anway.
Why did the guys get lost in the caves - It is said that the connection has been distrupted by the storm and they are only coming through sporadicaly.
Why are they only briefed after a 4 year space mission - If you give a man enough money and a chance to go to space I'm sure a lot of them wouldn't ask many questions. Improbable but not impossible. Bothered me a bit.
Why did weyland pretend he was dead - Don't know, never explained. But possibly he didn't want the scientists to know his true goal, and wanted them to go on their mission thinking it was for them. Maybe he just didn't want to be disturbed.
Why did engineers create a star map that was a weapons research facility - It is only assumed that the planet is a weapon research facility. Maybe it's something more. Maybe it's a station responsible for Earth in general.
Why did noone give a shit that weyland was alive - Moments were most people found out he was alive were not in the movie. I assumed most scenes with him were either done in secrecy from the rest of the crew, of hours later after the crew already knew. And at that point a lot more crazier shit was going on.
Why did they run in a line escaping the ship - Neither of them looked back when they ran. They just saw it falling in their general direction and honestly I would run in a straight line without looking back either. I mean what are the chances its gonna start rolling behind me. Only after they turned around they tried to dodge it.
Why did the engineers want to kill us? - Not explained. Little mystery is good.
Why were the engineers running into the black goo rooms? - I can speculate a million theories, but it's not explained and I don't fault it for that. What bothered me more is why does such an advanced race have such a crappy looking holograms while us humans have better ones.
its not Chicago , thats for sure but its entertaining, looks good and the songs were awesome. paper thin story though. had a lot of fun nevertheless. good performances and a couple of LOL moments 8/10

Prometheus 3/10 ... and that's being generous and even then it's only because of the admittedly great visuals.
Awful plot, awful pacing, I didn't care about any of the characters, the Engineers didn't make any sense whatsoever, the aliens were laughable, the motives of the characters were just ridiculous..... yeah, this was shit. You could see potential and ideas but the direction was hilarious and the film sucked.
@Sabin: just when I've finished to download it. I'm ready to be disappointed
That's all it was, mate, disappointment Plot holes the size of a small moon, disjointed and confusing and answers about as many questions as JJ Abrams does Such a waste. And the aliens? They're FUNNY. No, really, they're actually amusing

Seven different versions of Blade Runner have been shown. The original workprint version (1982, 113 minutes) was shown for audience test previews in Denver and Dallas in March 1982. Negative responses to the test previews led to the modifications resulting in the U.S. theatrical version.[137][138] The original version was also shown as a director's cut without Scott's approval at the Los Angeles Fairfax Theater in May 1990, at an AMPAS showing in April 1991, and in September and October 1991 at the Los Angeles NuArt Theater and the San Francisco Castro Theater.[139] Positive responses pushed the studio to approve work on an official director's cut.[140] It was re-released with the 5-disc Ultimate Edition in 2007.
A San Diego Sneak Preview was shown only once, in May 1982, and was almost identical to the U.S. theatrical version but contained three extra scenes not shown in any other version, including the 2007 Final Cut.[141]
The releases seen by most cinema audiences were: the U.S. theatrical version (1982, 116 minutes), known as the original version or Domestic Cut, released on Betamax and VHS in 1983 and Laserdisc in 1987; the International Cut (1982, 117 minutes), also known as the "Criterion Edition" or "uncut version", which included more violent action scenes than the U.S. version. Although initially unavailable in the U.S., and distributed in Europe and Asia via theatrical and local Warner Home Video Laserdisc releases, it was later released on VHS and Criterion Collection Laserdisc in North America, and re-released in 1992 as a "10th Anniversary Edition".[142]
The U.S. broadcast version (1986, 114 minutes) was the U.S. theatrical version edited by CBS to tone down the violence, profanity, and nudity to meet broadcasting restrictions.[143]
The Ridley Scott-approved (1991, 116 minutes) Director's Cut was prompted by the unauthorized 1990/1991 workprint theatrical release. This Director's Cut was made available on VHS and Laserdisc in 1993, and on DVD in 1997. Significant changes from the theatrical version include: the removal of Deckard's voice-over; re-insertion of a unicorn sequence; and removal of the studio-imposed happy ending. Scott provided extensive notes and consultation to Warner Bros. through film preservationist Michael Arick, who was put in charge of creating the Director's Cut.[144]
Ridley Scott's The Final Cut (2007, 117 minutes), or the "25th Anniversary Edition", was released by Warner Bros. theatrically on October 5, 2007, and subsequently released on DVD, HD DVD, and Blu-ray Disc in December 2007.[9] This is the only version over which Ridley Scott had complete artistic control, as he was not directly in charge of the Director's Cut.[144] In conjunction with the Final Cut cinema release, extensive documentary and other materials were produced for the DVD releases which culminated in a five-disc "Ultimate Collector's Edition" release by Charles de Lauzirika.[8]
WHAT A FUCKING DISASTER !!!!!
what those two films have in common
Director: Ridley Scott
Should've trusted pumpy and spared yourself the loss of time But I understand. I couldn't resist myself either. I mean in the end it's a science fiction movie in the Alien universe, what could possibly go wrong?
I mostly pissed off that Scott wanted to tell me that the Jockey in Alien was a huge buff version of Powder in a suit. And don't get me started on the whole plot and the actors... (Fassbender did best of them all... also the promitional trailer with him was great)
+ Good looking for the most part thanks to the amazing sceneries;
+ Ok-ish direction;
- Incredibly weak and generic story full of inconsistencies;
- Flat characters;
- Extremely banal dialogues, Z-Movie-like;
- Almost no tension;
- Terribly designed aliens.

A rating of 3/10 or for that matter 5/10 for Prometheus would rank it pretty low in the sci-fi genre. I think thats way to low - sure it has faults etc. But you guys most have seen some great sci-fi movies ive never heard of - because in its genre, its still a good movie.
Now I easily find Alien 4 a worse movie - but its still a better movie, than atleast half the sci-fi movies ive seen and still has some great scenes in it.
There are two kinds of people I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.
The character of David is truly the only good character, and the only one that matters. From his initial attempt to make his likeness similar to Laurence of Arabia, his attempt to please - yet sarcastically bite, constant attempt to understand and questioning of the motives of the humans is brilliant. Really good performance by Fassbender.

Yes, you're right. Just because it's "pretty" doesn't mean it's a good scifi movie. The plot was nonsensical, the characters flat, the pacing was screwy and there were plot holes you could drive a bus through. It was a pretty movie and that's about it.. there's just no substance and even less incentive to watch if you're a fan of the saga.

In your opinion, of course, in mine Prometheus is a 3/10. At best. I'm afraid you're just going to have to accept that we disagree

Then you've seen some truly terrible scifi movies. May god have mercy on your soul. And yes.. Alien Resurrection was a better movie, at least it was consistent.

Agreed! Surprisingly enough, my missus said the same thing; David was the only character there that was - as far as acting, motivation and style goes - good. Though even his story and placement in the film was haphazard at best. I feel like I've watched three movies spliced into one with all the logical intertwining strings cut. It had a few good scenes but not nearly enough to make up for the whole package being downright terrible :\

Just to clarify, the movie disappointed me not because I was expecting another Alien, it's just that as whole package, I found it unimpressive and not exactly entertaining. It's not even the hype's fault, since many fellow Humpers had already contributed to dismantle it.
People know it isnt supposed to be a prequel to Alien right ?
Anyways
Looper - 10/10 Giving it 10 cause I enjoyed every moment, great acting, story, holds no punches, just awesome!. Jospeh Gorden Lewit is steadily becoming one of my fav. actors, he can do so much.

So I just watched The dark knight rises at the cinema for the first time. (It just wasnt possible earlier)
And it was quite awesome. there was kind of a lack of screen-time for the Batman himself, but Bane kinda made up for it. I especially liked his voice! The second one was better, no question about that. But this movie was still a very nice ending to the trilogy. I would not bet on a sequel with Nolan involved, eventhough they hinted at one.
Had some laughs, but Adam Sandler movies always ends up more stupid than funny. Have they always been like this or have i simply outgrown his silly movies?
